Trying to obtain an idea of what my '71 kingswood Estate is worth as I am in the process of selling it, so I'd be grateful for any input from the Forum. Here's a description...it has 134.6K original miles on it and has been garaged since I bot it in 1972. Recent replaced parts include radiator, new starter, fuel tank, AC hoses, brake fluid lines, tune up components, belts, etc. It has never been in an accident however there are dings and rubs on the passenger side, right rear door needs adjustment, steering box has very slow leak, AC switch/relays need replacement, acid hole under rear sear, front seat tracks need work, and small teat on dr side seat. This wagon's V8 402 big block engine runs very well and has excellent pickup. Brakes, transmission and drivetrain are in very good condition. It can be driven away from its home in Gaithersburg, Maryland, just outside NW Washington, DC. Would appreciate contact cegow@isp.com or 301 990 9362...2/3/2011
That's kinda sad. My mom drove a '72 Kingswood and the a '74 Impala wagon back in the day. Always considered the dashes on the '71 - '76 Full sized Chevys to be the best.. had a lot of them in the family as well and my second car was a '73 Caprice 4 door hdtp. Can you tell that I really need a fix? lol John
Yeah, clur.....buy 72Kings and get it runnin'! Gorgeous interior in his. Trouble is....he's upside down in it.
I'd have it running in no time and it does have an amazing interior, not badly optioned either, tho it's kind of strange in not having the power tailgate...but I'd be a very happy guy with that car in my garage
nuuu, they all had power rear windows, but came standard with a manual sliding tail gate, these ones you can tell by the chrome handle at the very top, centre of the gate as well as the keyhole has little flanges, kinda like the ignition switch does if you can picture that. The cars with the optional power tailgate (you can raise/lower them from a dashboard switch or with a key at the back of the car) they didn't have these two things. Examine some pics and you'll notice these
wow....learn something new everyday.....thought all the clams came with power standard. That must be a bitch!
nope, the ones with the manual gates you got to push down or pull up! LOL Did you look at some pics and notice the handle on some and not on others?
No, I didn't, but, now that I think of it, I remember seeing a guy lowering his manually one time but I just thought it was broken!
Whats the colour combo in and out. Does it have the roof rack? Do you have snow down there so you could pull it out of the garage and take some pic's?
Yes....they have snow there. He should really post pix. Reason is....he states that the gas tank and brake lines have been replaced....USUALLY a sign of salt corrosion. He later states that the engine, transmission, driveline are in good shape but doesn't mention the body. Or the interior. Now....I could be entirely wrong about this car and it could be a veritable cherry! But....from the way the ad was written, it peaked my used car lot experience. The things mentioned and the things not mentioned with no pix make me wonder. A pic is worth a thousand words. I would like to see 10,000 words or so in pic form.
