My plans (I Think) are to due nothing to the outside, freshen up the interior with new carpet, new seat uplostery and dash pad. Lower it a little and drive it!!!!!

Hi Dustin, like those 70 LTD's and Country Squires. How optioned out is yours? Got cornering lights, speed control, factory am/fm/tape for example? Gonna have any NASCAR influence on the old blue oval? :camera:

Still not sure which direction I'm gonna go with this car.... But Yesterday I did pressure wash off about 20 years of dirt and crap off of it, pulled the fuel tank (which explains the black hose running into the back window) to fix a leak and I had those wheels laying around the shop so I figured what the hell...lets try em on!!!

Let me know what you think guys....

Yeah, I'm thinking mostly stock is the way to go for this project! Worth more in the long run and keeps everything fairly simple.

And its kinda hard to tell in the pictures, but that is about as good as the original paint is going to get. The previous owner liked to park it under a Pine Tree in his back yard and that pretty much did it in for the paint. It did help ALOT when i gave it a good bath with Soap, Purple Power and the pressure washer!

My apologies for not welcoming you sooner, Dustin...
    WELCOME!!!

As to your CS, it looks like it can be brought back to reasonable shape without too much effort (but then again, I'm not the one doing the work...)

Trim and interior parts for your wagon can come from 69 or 70 big Fords (LTD, Galaxie, or the low-line Custom 500...)

Dash pads were a known problem on these. Most of them got a big crack on top, just to the right of the instrument housing. You would be very lucky to find one with no crack in it. Your best bet would be to find a firm that repairs them - they're out there.

Couldn't tell too much the shape of your woodgrain trim and rails around the trim. There are also companies that sell replacement woodgrain (check our specific 'woodgrain' sub-section of the forum...). There are also some companies that restore the surrounding light woodgrain 'rails'

Just wanted to update on the progress of the Squire! Not much restoration work going on but, I am adding miles to the odometer :yahoo:
Got the car back on the road and been driving it pretty much everyday! Just trying to get all the bugs worked out of it. More recent pics have been added to my profile...check them out!

Cliff did you ever get moved back to Lexington????
