Hello Everybody! I am new to the group and have a couple of questions about my next project car. I am a life long Chevy man and I have never owned a Ford or a Station Wagon so this is a new adventure for me. I recently aquired a 1970 Ford Country Squire Wagon. The wagon is in great shape and only has 61,000 original miles on it. I'm thinking about a partial restore or a ratrod project. My question is, where can i find parts for the thing!!!!! A couple things that I am looking for is Dash Pad, carpet set, driver side wing vent workings and the parts to fix the rear gate latches. My next question is: Does any parts (interior) work on the LTD wagon from the Galaxie or Fairlane? I noticed that a 1970 Galaxie dash looks just like the dash in my wagon. (i figured restoration parts would be easier to find for a Galaxie vs an LTD)

Any Help would be greatly appreciated!!!

    Dustin

A little bit about me, I am 29 years old and live in Lexington NC. I have grown up working in the shop with my dad and I am 4th generation car guy. I have had many cars through the years but never any Fords and never any Wagons. So I figure before i jump into my new adventure this would be a good place to start!

My new Project is a 1970 Ford Country Squire. It has 61,000 original miles, no dents, damage or rust! The color is Burgandy? with black interior. ford 390 and an automatic. The car is complete with no missing parts but a few things like the 3 way tailgate no longer work. I'm not sure of the direction I'm gonna go with this car, I was thinking partial restore or a ratroad wagon???

Any help, comments or opinons from anyone out ther will be greatly appreciated

Welcome again Dustin. Who were those moonshine runners on TV - can't recall, but with a 390 in that wagon, man, you could restore the reputation! :biglaugh:

Welcome Widebody. Good luck with the restoration. 1970 Squires are a great looking wagon. Would love to see some pictures of it. It seems to me the dash would be interchangeable with the Galaxies except they might not have the woodgrain on them or the LTD upgrades. I would think there were almost as many '70 LTD's as Galaxies. I remember them as being very popular.

Welcome Dustin, That is a good project car you have. There are a couple of members in your area. I will be moving back to Lexington this weekend. And a member here from Salisbury, Mooresville and Charlotte. Where in Lexington are you?

I want to say the dash from a LTD will fit but I would measure first.

Yeah a year ago so my wife could be closer to her Job. We just found a house back in Lexington with Owner Financing. I'm getting too old to keep moving.

Welcome! Sounds like a good looking wagon. The Galaxie and LTD are the big cars, the Fairlane is an intermediate. Galaxies weren't typically as opulent as LTDs tho some could be. Ford guys probably know if they shared any parts with Fairlanes tho it's
likely limited to electric do-dads like window lifts (switches) and radio components.
