First up a rare 1969 Marauder, just needs a little TLC https://sanantonio.craigslist.org/cto/d/1969-mercury-marauder-2dr-ht/6679542002.html Next we have a rare '70 Monterrey convertible, also just a little love is needed. https://sanantonio.craigslist.org/cto/d/1970-monterrey/6668720763.html
That poor Marauder. Base model with a 390. However, the Monterey convertible is 1 of 581 - and I wonder how many of them had the optional 429, probably not many......most were the standard 390's
More 429s might have rolled off the line, had FoMoCo returned the Marauder legend through bucket seats, consoles and sporty guages. There's no point in not doing so, when other brands were marketing their versions of full-sized muscle cars
Too bad, the package wasn't forced onto consumers, the way GM forced such as standard on Starfires, 2+2s and Wildcats
Too literal - I was speaking about the Monterey having the optional 429. 69-70 MARAUDERS had a bench seat/390 as standard. X100's had buckets/429 as standard. Another factoid is that the Marauders are a 69-70 Ford XL in drag, from a shorter wheelbase, then added the Marquis front clip to it.
