1969 Mercury Cougar | eBay I'm interested in this 1969 Cougar. Anyone care to look over the pics and tell me if there are any red flags? Thanks in advance.
The exterior looks flawless, from here. Not even a blister under the looks like newly glued-on vinyl top. I'm not that comfortable with the way this door gasket is secured. It seems to me, they could have done better, even if originals are no longer available. Other than that, stopping by with a magnet would be advisable
I purchased the car! It's on a trailer heading in our direction, estimated arrival time this coming Tuesday. Photos will be coming soon.
Supposedly. We're so excited! Paul already scheduled the car to be registered at the DMV this coming Thursday. The sales tax is astronomically high, but what can you do? It'll be worth it to us! I even bought a lil stuffed cougar for it!
We finally got the Cougar 7:00 PM tonight. It's sweet. Undercarriage is clean, no rust to be seen. Whole interior is original, including original floor mats with Cougars on them, original trunk liner. Body is tight and straight as an arrow. All gauges and lights work. Brakes are right there, no squeaks or rattles. Engine is strong. Needs a tune-up and a re-charge of the AC.
What's it like residing in California, only to be re-importing a California car from salty Michigan? The seller of your Cougar seems to be honest, pointing out flaws like the cork used to cap this following up-for-sale Caliente's windshield washer's pouch. This gem would be something for me, having owned a '60 Comet. This one has the short-lived oddball of all F.M.C. smallblocks, even. All that's missing is the floor shifter this console is waiting to accomodate: https://vmp.ebay.com/ebay/viewAllPhotos.aspx?smid=150682570
Don't know if it's a CA car but it definitely ain't from Michigan. That is a very nice Comet. I read somewhere that there is a report you can purchase that tells you everything you want to know about your car's origins. I think it is Mike's something? Would like one of those.
And this would be a very nice Cougar, if this young lady wearing an outter space alien's dome would just step out of the way
FYI Paul ran a magnet along the body..........No bondo! The car has 22,000 some odd miles on it. We believe it is genuine. The interior is flawless, the brake pedals have virtually no wear, as do the floormats. Numbers match. The only mystery I have about the car is why it was repainted (the correct color, incidentally) and why the top was redone.
Thanks Mark, Thanks Kevin! I did order a Deluxe Marti Report. Looking forward to receiving it. Received my lil stuffed cougar in the mail today, too!
I just received my Marti Report this morning. Very interesting. Not too many 1969 hardtop Cougars with my color scheme - something like 50. Car was completed on October 3, 1968...2 days before Paul's 3rd birthday and 3 days before my 6th birthday (yes I am a Cougar, went for a younger guy )
