This is up for auction at Mecum in Houston this weekend (April 5-7). Not sure what I think of the blacked-out lower sections, grille, and wheels, but it is interesting. https://www.mecum.com/lots/HA0418-324206/1968-oldsmobile-98/
It's creative. But, I don't like it. I wouldn't have thought twice, if this was done fifty years ago. It's still reversible, though. Were bucket seats even available, on a 98? The only things that don't look good are the color and phantom shift console
Me no likey. When you do the custom thing, there may not be another person on the planet who likes what you have done. When you keep it stock, you know at least a few thousand other people at least liked it that way when new.
That's what continually comes to mind, when I see cars colored in egg yolk yellow or bright pink. I always wonder if such people ever think of re-sale or are truly dedicated in keeping them, until it's scrapyard time
I think, at the time of purchase, it's "How much money can I save by buying one with ugly paint?" I like the interior color, it's the same or close to Grandpa Fred's '66 Delta 88.
I suspect the seats were taken from another GM full-sized vehicle. I don't think you could get bucket seats in these. (Maybe you could in some kind of Delta 88 'sport hardtop', or an earlier Starfire....) Anyone recognize the seat pattern?
