Hi, finally i have the time;or better i take the time;to post some pics from my project that i've started some almost 3 years ago.At the first check over it looked not to bad rust wise and thought"I'll get that done in no time".Well,i can tell you the car is still far from done but for now i post some pics.
now we are rust repairing.a real pain in the neck was the inner rocker since i didn't remove the car from the frame but i got it done.I could have easily patched all over and then "who cares",but i wanted to do it the right way with cutting the rust out and matching the patches as close as possible.
Those pictures sent a shudder up my spine as I remember the Minnesota years (the years that the saline has eaten as it were). I did time there in my Jr. High and High school years and this brought back horrifying memories (OK, there were some good ones too but bitter sweet at best). mike
yep,it's getting there.. but then i ran out of steam with the wagon, but i wasn't sitting lazy in my chair.I traded my rotten '64 Impala for a '67 Country Squire, fixed the couple rust spots and use it as my daily driver. Also brought my girlfriends car,a '61 Envoy back to life.I had no drive to continue with my blue wagon.
It is a LONG time since I saw an Envoy like that still in one piece! Most of those Vauxhalls turned to rust decades ago! Great job.
Hey who's doing the work on it? Are you doing this yourself? I need some work done and anyone willing to take that kind of rust repair on must know what they are doing, wow. A far more brave man than I....
euroman1 good to see you have a nice daily driver but what's a Envoy . good job on your repairs more pics when you have time and by the way who made an Envoy ? from Downunder
Thanks guys @Handy Andy;i do the work here in my garage.i think sometimes i don't know what i am doing.often into that kind of projects i think,"why did you start this at all". If you need work done on one of your cars i can have a look at it.but i have no room in my garage so you have to provide shop space. @ the rev, i don't know what this is about a squire,i wasn't looking out for one.it was advertised lokaly and didn't sell for months.i looked at it and thought it would make a good donor car for my blue wagen but it turned out as to good of a car.it just needed minor rust and brake work for the safety inspection and it became my daily driver. @dennis A Envoy is/was a Vauxhall with different trim package.Back in the days GM was looking for a small car for their model range.they shopped around in the commonwealth and took the Vauxhall and rebadged it as a Envoy.what i know the GM/GMC dealers sold the Envoy, the Buick/Pontiac dealers sold the Vauxhalls here in Canada. The rear wheel arches and dog leg needed a lot of attention.Since i couldn't find repair panels for that section i followed the advice of some guys to use the front fender wheel arches because they should fit.you have to use the front right for the rear left but i can assure you it's not a"bolt on"application.it took for ever to put them on an make them look right.for the passenger side i just build them from scratch. the pics of the rear quarter showing how it sits now since over a year.
This is off topic but for the guys who know the Envoys and Vauxhalls. My Lady bought it from the first owner. It was complete and good looking at the first glance and with an almost perfect interior.but then i started poking around and the front part of the body just crumbled away and an easy to fix turned into another major project.but to see my lady happy when the car was finished was worth all the work.
