    Does that look like a 351 under there? Doesn't look like a 289 or 352, which probably came with it originally.

    Yeah but for $600 you are getting a chance to spend at least $10,000 on a resto. :)

    I love the Country Squire, especially that year. I would have done this if I had seen this before the Pontiac.

    With the 600 in mind though. Just rebuild an original engine and go with it and since it's a Ford the parts will be cheap.

    Depending on how early the car was made .... I thought it would have a 260 or a 390 in it.

    The 240-6 was standard in most big Fords, but the 289 V8 was standard in the LTD's, which included the Country Squires. Also available was the 352 and the 390. Couldn't get the 427 in the wagons, according to the brochure.

    Krash I've seen very early mustangs ,falcons, and even Rancheros with the 260 v-8. Its an early block that was standard on Fords pre 1965. Early Ford trucks had the Y-Blocks. I guess the V8 motors were upgrades to the 6 cylinder.

    In 65 there was no more 260's, would be a 289 or up, but the 352 was still a option...in Canada anyway.

    The 'Challenger' 260 was being phased out around the 1965 model year, being replaced by the Challenger 289 in various configurations. You couldn't even get a 260 in a Falcon or a Mustang for 1965. The 260 was only available in the Mustang for the '64 1/2 model year - when they first came out.

    According to Hemmings Classic Car, there was ONE 65 Country Squire built with the 427. When told he could order that if the honchos at Ford would authroize it, the original owner wrote directly to Lee Iacoca. Mr Iacoca did authroize the one to be built, and the letter from him is still with the car. It looks like it is due for a good refurb, but it is still a factory one on none!

    Nope...thats a352/390

    No 260....they were phased out in 64


    thats a screaming freekin deal....if it was closer...Id buy it!!
    (that being said...its a 24 hour drive...each way):whew:
