    hello all - someone else thought the Frontenac deserved some credit

    if goggle search 'Globe and Mail' then goto the Globe drive section and type in 1960 Frontenac you'll find a little write up on my sweet little girl. make sure you leave a note in the comment section too.

    thanks again

    Nice article. I saw some of those in Quebec, when I was a kid. Ford launched a few models with historically significant monikers, and Quebeckers were faithful to the marques. There's probably a few left in the Saguenay region (Three Rivers and Shawinigan).

    Don't know if this site can help you in your quest for more info on them.

    Nice wagon, Rich.

    I had heard of the 'Frontenac' name before, but I thought it was asociated with bigger Canadian Fords.

    I'm also a bit confused on the history of the car. Was the Frontenac sold by Canadian Mercury dealers? Was there also a Canadian Falcon for sale (I think the answer's 'yes' to both questions...)

    If that was the case, why did they need to sell a Frontenac when the Mercury Comet came out just a couple of months after the Falcon?

    I also wonder if this deal was somehow involved in the Edsel episode. The Comet was actually supposed to be a small Edsel, then switched to Mercury when the Edsel was killed. And to me, the Frontenac grill kinda has some Edsel familiarity......

    hello All - and Best of the Season.

    I know i have been tardy and the lack of any status updates on the wagon . I waited too long with my application of Collector plates and so the car never made it out anywhere - but truth be told i'm kinda freaked out of someone running a light or stop sign .

    anyways my N/Y resolution is to stay in touch a little more in 2012.

    best regards

    Beautiful restoration.
    I don't remember the Frontenac...but I remember the 63 Comet wagon my Dad had when when I was a kid.

    I watched him shift that 3 on the tree for so many years, I was a natural when I got into my first column-shifted truck!

    Beautiful car and great article in the Globe & Mail, Rich! Congrats.

    sorry Krash - i not sure if i ever answered your questions ;

    yes - in Canada there was no mercury comet for 1960 - so Ford just 'rebadged' a Falcon and called it the Frontenac as a stand alone . the comet arrived here in 1961 and the Frontenac disappeared !!
