1959 Chevy Kingswood project

The most recent pic I have is the car after being moved to the interior guy's shop.

 

The bumpers are in Gainesville, TX being replated. I wasn't sure I wanted to go to the expense and hassle, but with the rest of the car looking so nice the old chrome would have been out of place.

I don't know if this will be viewable, but it's a video from my Facebook page of the first time the engine was started up. No muffler, yet.

 

That's one of the last and best 235's of which you could sell to someone restoring any Stovebolt-powered Chevy and use the earnings for financing your wagon restoration, providing the engine is still in good shape.

My PLUM cellphone was constructed on a Blackberry base. It's not one of those "Smart"phone type gadgets. But, it's somehow an in between compromise somewhere in the middle of an ordinary cellphone and an expensive "Smart"phone. There used to be no problem taking photos with it and then upload them to my G-mail account. You've probably've got some simple Nokia with a camera lie I have, because I dropped the plum and the on/off button smashed into the phone. I got it going, by drilling a hole into the cover, so that I could short circuit the connection at where the button used to be (These gadgets should get built in Japan, instead, so that they get tested for such accidents) with a piece of solid copper wire. That became a pain and I got hold of a used Nokia. It takes photos, also. But, it's a pain getting them out. You could get yoursout at home, through a WLAN connection.

 

Oh, she's gorgeous! You certainly picked an excellent color that truly catches the eye in sunlight, and in combo with the white, she's beautiful.

 

Jeez, you'd think I was 'made' in New Jersey (although I was born in Rhode Island).

 

The wagon is looking great. Rechromed bumpers will be an improvement that will be worth the money.

As for phones, we have the cheapest cell phone there is. Even I'm smarter!

 

Thank you. I tried to get close to the original Crown Sapphire. This may be a little bit more green, but it is nice.

 

The problem is attempting to match between the original paint formulation and todays concoctions available. And, an old, musty book may have faded anyway, so the 'color sample' may have changed a bit also.

 

There should be some shaded and undamaged paint example, somewhere on the car. Perhaps, on the underside of the rightside windshield frame. A competent painter could duplicate that exact original color, if he feels like it. No problem.

 

True.... there were several areas that showed the original, unfaded paint. I wanted something with a tiny bit more green. Under different lighting, it looks many different ways... but they're all good!

 

Going to pick up the bumpers next week. They look good.

For those of you using colors combinations such as ivory and dark red, may I suggest copper plating, instead of chrome. Surfaces were first copper-plated, before they discovered they could use chrome:
