This week we worked on getting the front sheet metal bolted on, the cargo area side panels covered, a "headliner" installed, and the hood on.

    This hood is a pain.

We had time to goof off a little
    [IMG]

And even had time to go for a drive.

Last week we worked on aligning the front sheet metal, repairing the gas door, grinding a little more rust off and generally getting it ready for paint. Not much to show.

    Back from paint

Picked it up from paint today. We got it shot with primer at Maaco. Big shout out to Scott at the Burien Maaco for helping us out with this and turning it around super quick.

They even put some color in the primer...

Tomorrow is the end of year BBQ at the high school and the weather looks good. I'm staying home from work to go.

Sunday we put the bumpers, grill, etc back on and then relax with our own auto shop BBQ.

    School BBQ

Beautiful day in West Seattle yesterday for the Seattle Lutheran High School end of year BBQ. The students enjoy getting to show off their work to their friends, but it's clear I need to get more visibility for this program as most of the students and faculty seem unaware of the class.

Today was our final class for the year. The plan was to meet for an hour to put the car back together after paint and then have a BBQ with the parents.

The hour felt like the final day of Overhaulin. We were scrambling to get it back together.

After we had it together, we rolled it outside for some photos

I love the look of the chrome against the flat blue.

Then we spent the rest of the class having a BBQ (with station wagon yard art)

    Now on to Billetproof!

Anyone want to buy a '58 Ford Wagon?

That's turned out to be a really nice long roof. My hat's off to you for taking the time(and having the patience) to work with the kids and show them a bunch of stuff. I'm sure they learned a lot. Keep us posted! :tiphat:

Uh....did any of the parents bring any cool long roofs to the BBQ?

Thanks. It's been a lot of work, but a lot of fun, too.

No parent long roofs at the BBQ - just my two.

Thanks O.P. for posting this car on craigslist, It has drawn a fellow Longtopper to this fourm. Like what has already been said thank you for the effort of your whole team. Glad this ol beauty can cruise once again, I acutally drove my 65 Nova wagon to Seattle last week to pick up my new tailgate that was shipped in from Tennessee. I will let my friends in the Longtoppers CC know about this Fourm. Cheers:thumbs2:

You're right about the Chrome with Flat paint finish. We had one just like it in 1958, except she came with a TBird 390 CID, by factory error. I never noticed the lines in the lower edge of the front fenders, sweeping back, until now!

Hope they all got an "A-Plus". One thing to fix repairs, another one to revive an American Icon!:1st:

Well done! Keep us in mind when you start the next vehicle. We've even got a Non-Wagon section down in the Lounge area. Thanks for the eye candy.:thumbs2:
