The 1/18 scale diecast hobby has grown at a phenominal pace over the last 15 years. When I got "hooked" on collecting these large 1/18 scale diecasts in the early 90's, it was easy. Easy to buy the cars and easy to display them despite the large scale. It was easy because the number of classic American cars represented in 1/18 scale by every manufacturer could be counted on one hand. Now the addiction has grown and the wide variety of models available has grown, as the detail and accuracy of the models has improved. Still, despite repeated requests from collectors, there just aren't many 1/18 scale wagons represented in 1/18 scale.
Maisto makes a 55 Nomad, Yat Ming makes a 57 Nomad and a 57 Ford Sedan Delivery. Hot Wheels makes an under scale 59 Chevy sedan delivery and a very custo 50 Mercury wagon, but other than those, the only other American wagons made in 1/18 scale are Woodys. The 39 and 48 Chevy woody wagons by Motor City and Maisto respectively, and the 48 Ford 4 door by Signature division of Yat Ming and the 49 Ford 2 door woody wagons Motor City pretty much completes the entire 1/18 scale American wagon selection. The nice thing is, that the Ford wagons and the 39 chevy wagon have real wood veneer on the sides. Here are links and photos to a few of the current e-bay auctions for 1/18 scale Americn wagons. My favorite are the Ford wagons.

I wish there were more American die cast wagons. All I've got is a '55 Nomad and a red version of the custom Mercury woody (last in Jim's post)

Thanks for the kind words. Now if only I could find just the right wagon to put the 4x8 diorama in the back of, so I could take it to the local cruise in. (theres a few more pics in the "some of my wagon collection " thread)

I've got a few wagons from FM and DM, but they're in 1/24th scale. (Could be 1/25th, come to think of it.) Let's see. I've got a '61 Country Squire, a maroon '49 Ford woodie, an early 40's Chrysler Town and Country, and an early 50's Buick. I, too, wish they'd offer more wagons, but they don't.

Finding any wagon in a model scale is gona be a bit rough. The only two 1/24th wagons that I know of that are on the market right now. 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle from AMT and the 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle from Revell.

There was a matchbox size 1973 Chevrolet Impala wagon from Johnny Lighting. It came in three variants, Kingswood, Kingswood clunker, and a plane sided gold Impala. I have the clunker version. The Kingswood is getting hard to find already, and people want about $20 for one, when you find it.

Revell also makes a Dodge Magnum wagon in I think 1/25th. However, I was told it was already dropped. So if you find one at Hobby Lobby or anywhere else, pick it up. It might be the last time you see it for awhile.

Wild Cherries makes a HO scale Ford Pinto Cruising wagon in green and another color.

I have a 1973 Chevrolet Kingswood kit in 1/24th, a 1970 Ford LTD Country Squire kit in 1/24th, and a 1993 Buick Roadmaster kit in 1/25th scale coming. The first two I have, WONDERFUL conversion kits. But these are big bucks for models and since I'm knee deep already.......:biglaugh:
