LOL....sure I'll do it. But, snoot....I just clicked on Tedy's original post where it says "ask a question" and it brought me right to "contact seller"!
Fox, could that be, because your alwready logged on ebay? When I hit "ask seller a question" I got a you must log in etc, etc.
You might PM Krash Kadillac. He probably has some crash sheets for them. Part numbers would be helpfull. In my Ford/Merc 1979 manuals, the wheel lips are in the 16000 parts group. This site has a couple for 1979 and up Marquis and LTD: http://www.spacecoastshelby.com/nos.html He uses PDF files for each category: http://www.spacecoastshelby.com/nos16000.pdf
OH...yeah...OK. I will do whatever you want, snoot. Just let me know each and every question you have.
Well, I'm trying to figure out if the moldings on the 79 have the same woodgrain as an 87. I know it's a small piece very low on the car but to be honest, if it isn't the same it's going to bug me whenever I see it worse than seeing the dented one. (I know, I know, I'm a bit anal, I admit it.) Also, I was wondering if they have a right front wheel lip molding as well. (That also has woodgrain on it.) SF, you had mentioned before I could most likely peel the dinoc off the old piece. Do you think I could successfully do that? It seems to me most likely it'd get all shredded, no?
Possibly. It's a gamble. What I would do (if needed) would be to cut off the end of the old piece, then cut a razor blade or box knife blade to just a bit wider than the dinoc. That way you could get the blade nice and flat and then, using adhesive remover, work the blade back and forth under the dinoc with continual use of the remover at the same time. But....I understand that matching dinoc is difficult....HOWEVER, all the places that have it that I have gone to, for some reason, seem to HAVE Ford stuff that matches. For the money we are talking here, snoot...I would sure get the piece and worry about the dinoc later if need be.
If it hasn't turned chalky and brittle, you could probably peel it off easily with a little heat applied. Take a hair dryer and warm it a little, not too hot, you don't want the wood grain to stretch. Peel slowly and it should come off fully intact. The glue will probably be dried up, so you will have to apply some new glue so it sticks to the new piece. As far as making pieces, that would be WAY too involved, trust me. It kind of gives away my project 86 crown victoria, but I cast about 60 trim corners out of fiberglass and that was even way too involved, and u-want1 was even nice enough to provide me a corner to make the mold from. EDIT- I just noticed silverfox beat me to the punch. I like the idea of cutting a razor blade down. Maybe a combination of both the razor and heat would work???
bleh ok I guess I'll try finding them eventually lolz Although I still feel like making them. I should be specific about it I mean like custom molding... make them look almost seamless and border whatever size paneling. You know what I mean? I found out that white wall tires from coker tires are like $211 a piece! So I guess for now the small thin white wall tires will have to work...
Right on. If you were making a complete set for a car it would be alot easier than making a piece to match the factory design. You could make them look however you wanted and making them seamless would look pretty sweet. If you got the skills and resources to get it done, then I would like to see what you come up with! For tires, you may also want to check out diamondback classic radials (www.dbtires.com).
Thanks! Finally I was able to take the wagon home today after insuring it... I had the biggest grin!!!! People were giving me weird looks but I didn't care lol
No, I went down to the Jersey shore Friday and am computer incommunicado down there. (Kind of nice, really, not being able to check email and such!)
Awe Snoot, you have to get that part buddy, it's one of those......it'll never happen again items (it's cheap, it's brand new) that in a month from now you'll regret a year from now
