Hey guys wondering if any one knows where the Oil pressure port is on a ford 351M motor in a country squire. I am trying to install a oil pressure gauge.

Most Fords have the oil pressure sending unit by the oil filter on the driver side which is right by the oil pump.

That's what I thought too but non to find. There is a spot that has a plug in I thought I would take that out and see what I find.

Just checked the Ford Shop manual. To the right of the fuel pump on 302/351 engines (1979 models at least).

i used that port to run a external oil line back to the port on the back of the block, so I have good oil pressure to the back bearings. you can have 40lbs of oil pressure there on the front plug but have none where the one is on the rear of the block.
so take the plug out and put your brass fitting where the plug was and you can see what oil pressure you have before the oil runs through the lifters, to feed the main bearings.

Oh good idea, I like that one.
And is your guage tee'd in to that line too I guess?
I have a guage to install and was worried about running that plastic line into the car.
Anyone had a line or connection failure in the car?

i put the the brass T fitting on the back port and i never use the plastic line. there nothing worse than pumping hot oil all inside your car because the plastic line broke when driving down the highway during rush hour. always use metal line for oil.

    Why did yours break?
I am thinking about running copper.

mine never broke because i never use plastic or rubber line for oil but I have seen some great car's burn to the ground from there plastic line break in the engine compartment and spray hot oil onto there hot header's.
I had friend that burned his leg because he was in short's and the plastic line sent oil his way.
there is no good reason to use plastic line with oil.
there cheaply made and when cheep is the sentence, then QUALITY is no where to be found.
I use copper or steel for all my oil line and brass fitting.

The Mustang/Capri oil pressure sender is electrical, but you'd need a gauge with numbers instead of the graphical scale. I think it maxes at 35 PSI. Its made for the 302/200 I6 and 2.3L 4-banger.

Wow thanks for all the advice. Do they have kits that have the steel line? Just wondering if the brass pressure fittings that came with the gauge will work for copper or steel line.
