Hi everyone, I recently bought my third wagon, a black 69 Chevy Impala Kingwood (350). Drives/floats like a dream. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima
Beauty wagon. I'll bet it is a dream to drive down the highway. How long have you had it? What's the history of the car? And what the heck is with all that tree fuzz on your ground there. My gosh, a person with alergies would go crazy with al lthe tree spuzzum laying about
thanks for the welcoming msgs Betty was conceived in Detroit but born in Tarrytown, NY. The black you see is the original paint. A guy with an antique auto repair shop in central Michigan bought her at an estate sale a couple of years ago and fixed her up, including restoring the front seat to like-new condition. He sold her to a guy in Indiana who does body work on his own impressive collection of classic cars, including Model-T, 57 Buick, Corvair, etc., etc. He ran out of room in his 12-car garage, and Betty was low car on the totem pole. He posted a video of Betty here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDdsB7aZ-bo . I saw her on e-bay in April, fell in love, and brought her back to metro Detroit where I live. She could still use some body work due to rust in the spare tire well, on the lower fenders, and around the windows. The odo says 52k, but I figure 152k. Everything works except the am radio, which gets reception but no amplification to the speakers. Never had a third seat. The motor is the original 350 with 4-barrel carb. Runs great and doesn't seem to burn oil. New springs and shocks make her float down the road. My previous wagons: 78 Chevy Monza & '79 Volvo 240. I like wagons, even though I have no kids and no dogs!
Nice wagon there, prof. '69 big Chevy wagons are very popular - I think because of their styling. More 'modern' than the '68's, and I think they look better than the similar-looking '70's. Welcome to the forum. Marshall
My first wagon was a 69 Kingswood. I had it from Nov.97 till May O5. It was light blue with a white roof.
Here's some pictures, when I bought it it had 79K miles on it. The car had sat for 4 year in a damp basement with the windows down. There was a mouse nest in the glovebox. I replaced the carpet and recovered the front seat. It was bought new at a Chevy dealer down the road from me. The car doesn't have many options. It had a 3rd seat, 327 V-8 (base V-8) turbo 350 tranny. AM radio and no A/C along with manual drum brakes. All I ever did was change fluids, replace carb, valve cover gaskets, water pump, brakes. I never had to open up the engine. I wished I had kept it. I sold it to a guy out of SC in 2005.
Yup, THAT'S DETROIT, I'd recognize that white crap anywhere from BLUE LIPS, MI. PROFYou'll like it here, Jer
