Hey gang , Im working on making a model out of a resin repop body of the old P M C 1954 Plymouth Belvedere wagon . Now with that said many of the details are less than desired or in question .

There is a curious hump on the top of the tailgate . I suspect that that is where Chrysler put an external spare tire . Am I correct ? Was it a Continental type spare ? Does anyone have a picture of a 54 Plymouth they could share ?

In case anyone wants to know the Promo and this resin body never came with a detailed chassis , or an interior . These pieces will have to be scratchbuilt . I'm planning on doing the wagon in a tropical light green and a lower Black panel as I found where the local Plymouth dealer here actually re-painted these wagons as a way to help sell them . There was no external spare offered. I think what you are refering to is not on the tailgate, but actually on the lift up rear window. There was a curved area like you describe that was where the "T" bar type handle was mounted that would be used to lift up the rear window. I believe this handle housed the lock as well.

Jim , thats actually a big help ! I can scratch build a piece to replicate a turn type knob easily enough . Thank you for answering the question . I'll hopefully have some pictures up in the Model section soon. Ed Shaver
