Just dropping a note. it is the proper thing to do. Just joined cuz I need to get back to my roots. Wagons. Grew up fighting for the back seat of a 9 passenger wagon with my brothers. Back in the days when you could drive somewhere AND play a board game too!! But I digress. In reality, I was shopping for a wagon to use as a occasional driver, tow vehicle and official vacation machine for me, the better half, and my dogs. The crew cab just doesnt cut it. Lacks the cool factor, you know. So watch for me, and keep me in mind if something interesting pops up. Preferrable Pontiac, but not necessarily. Thanks!
You're hooked! Now how lonely that sweet Cougar must feel. And only one year that Cougar wagons were ever made too (1982). Sure you wouldn't really want a Ford. Does GM know how loyal you are?
, be patient IMO when looking......I spent months hunting for thre rite wagon/s. I think "the Fox" holds the record for patience when looking for that perfect ride.
Yes it is lonely. I keep it in my other garage so the Pontiacs dont pick on it Actually, I inherited it. My father bought it new when he got home from Vietnam. He and mom went on their Honeymoon in it, he brought me home from the hospital when I was born with it. Then he put a car seat in it <gasp> gave it to mom cuz her car was a S@@tbox and his first born son wasnt going to be risked in that thing!! It is exactly the way he picked it up in 1969. 2 bbl, single exhaust, wheel covers and all. He Finished a complete rotessiere job on it a year before he died. I have had it ini the garage since (bout 3 years). I may drive it a bit this year though.
Hey, PG, welcome to the forum. We both share a warm spot for Pontiac wagons, although I've never actually owned a Pontiac wagon. Had a '84 Ventura 2-door hardtop (my second car, back in 1970), and a '68 Firebird for a short while, driven a '80 Phoenix and '83 6000 (both company vehicles - I thought the 6000 was really well put-together)...let's see - any more Pontiacs?.......hmmm.....no, I think that was it. Anyway, I fell in love with the big Pontiac wagons back when I was a kid - first saw a '58 Chieftan wagon parked on the street, and it was for sale! I was with my dad at the time, and I pleaded with him to let me buy it - i was only 14 or so, so he didn't bite....... Later, saw a gleaming '66 Bonneville on a used car lot.....couldn't swing the purchase right then.......one of my big regrets. I'd love to own a loaded '67 - '69 Bonneville.......we be stylin'....... Marshall
Yup PG Krash is a Pontiac guy converted to a good Ford guy. Really though I don't think there's a wagon I won't have and that includes an AMC Pacer. Even though I don't "collect" like some we know here, I'm a wagon whore and any wagon will satisfy me.
You certainly have a nice selection of toys. I'm envious. Many of them I'd really enjoy owning. Glad you found the forum.
Thanks, but i have half of them apart so dont be too jealous. I cant seem to leave well enough alone. I too would love a 66 wagon. Thats my favorite year for the big 60's. Its the most refined and clean looking. I would give an arm for a 61 however. I dont know if i like it better, but man I love the look of the waterfall grill. Plus it falls in the unique catagory.
Welcome PG... Welcome to the jungle!!! We would eat our young for a 61(or almost anything else... eat the young thing, before they turn 18 and MEAN...that is). If you see anything in the Central Fl. area, I'd be glad to put the peeps to it for ya!!! That IS a nice collection you have there!!! Good Luck on the search !!! Later, Bruce
