Nice Fairmont Squire, but that interior is screaming for a 'Sport' steering wheel, like this, only in red.......

It's amazing that folks don't even take the time to figure out what they are selling.

It's certainly no Fairlane. That four light front end indicates that it's a Fairmont Futura Squire which are quite rare. If it's un-rusty and running I think it's well worth the asking price.

Even the wood trim pieces are in nice shape. Must be from the higher parts of North Vancouver. The air is so thin, the guy is confused between Fairmont and Fairlane, like Steve said. Nice condition. The grille looks better with 4 headlights, rather than my setup. I doubt that its rusty. Probably never got out of the lower mainland, Rev. Go get it, Rev. I promise I won't raz you about the fleet for at least a month.:biglaugh:

If I remember correctly Norm you can install the four light set up on your car by getting the grill and headlight wiring from either a Futura or a Zephyr. I understand it's a bolt in operation. No change to the fenders, hood or bumpers. I think a salvage yard trip is in order around when, June or so when you thaw out.:D

Nice Futura Squire. You're right, TB, the grille indicates it's a Futura, which was the upgraded, "more luxurious" version of the Fairmont. I see it's got the upgraded "turbine wheel covers", as they were called, on it. Very nice wagon, for sure. Odd that it had power windows but no cruise control. If it did, it would've had the nicer steering wheel. They made a 2 dr Futura Sport Coupe back then that I thought was absolutely hideous. It had a very odd roofline. Some of you Fairmont lovers may have liked but I really didn't.

You know what? Looking at that picture today, I have to say it doesn't look nearly as bad as I thought it did back in '81. I hope none of the members here have one of them. Sorry if I offended anybody.

Yeah, Andy and I know where there's a Fairmont wagon full of them too!

After seeing this one, I'm sort of torn.

You otta see the Z7 model with the chrome band over the roof! That is hot! I think there was a TBird model that had it too, back in 1979 to 1984.

These wagons are awesome when it comes to being sleepers. Anything you can fit in a Mustang, can fit under a Farimont hood, including the 429 CID powerplant. Makes the rearview mirror an absolute necessity when looking at a ricer's jawbones!:rofl2:

There's a car salesman at the Ford dealer I met the other day that has a 79 Futura that's completely restored. It looks beautiful. Inline six and C4 auto.

I thought that Futura coupe was kinda cute - sort of a mini-T bird.
It's what they used to make the Durango P/U.....

I really love the look of the Durango's. The tailgate is odd but the car is porportioned well.

Did I mention it's supposed to be in the 70's here for the next 9 days or so?:rofl2:
