Hello all, Haven’t been here much lately, just been driving my cars. However, I have had the door latch fail on the drivers side rear door on my 70 Chevelle Wagon. When unlocked, operating the outside handle or the inside handle results in the door popping open to the first detent (as when the door is not completely closed), but it will not release all the way. It is like it is stuck at the partially latched point. Push it completely closed, it fully latches, just won’t release past the first latch point. I have tried the various methods outlined on other sites for releasing, like using inside and outside handles simultaneously, pulling up on the lock button while actuating the inside and outside handles, actuating inside and outside handles while gently, or violently, tugging on the door. The latch stays caught on that first detent. So with where I am at, does anyone have any other thoughts or ideas? The door has its nice door panel installed, which cannot easily be removed with the door closed. I am going to pull the door loose at the hinges to get the panel off as cleanly as possible, and then will be able to partially access and view the latch then. Anything I can push pull poke prod on the latch when I can actually see some of it to get the door opened completely? Thank you for taking a look and any input, Tom
Yom - somewhere in this guys vid's he has a video where he shows how to open a stuck door. He buys lots of cars that have been sitting for awhile. https://www.youtube.com/@mr.goodpliers6988
