Hi all. Posting here for widest dissemination to the all wagon experts.. I have a 73 ford country sedan wagon and starting to collect extra parts . In terms of the doors front fenders tailgate and hood - does anyone know what ford models and years are interchangeable? Maybe my post is overly broad but I am sure someone will correct me on that. Thanks
Hey sparty, Sorry I don't have any real information for you. But I am sure there is someone on here that can answer those questions for you. Post some photos of your car so we can check it out. Good luck
There is an interchange book that junk yards use to determine that information. I forget the name. Also, it would probably have to be a yard that has been in business for a while to have one in their library.
It looks like the '73 you have is the first year for a new generation of full-sized Ford, so anything OLDER than your '73, body-wise, ISN'T going to fit. Yours is also the last generation before the big down-sizing came along for the 1979 model year. Things like front door shells COULD be interchangeable all the way through the '78 model year. The front doors of a 4-door sedan would also most likely interchange. Your REAR doors have to come from another wagon though. For your front sheet metal, the '74 looks to be identical, with only a change in the grill design. For '75 and beyond, the front sheet metal, although similar, is different. All the trim is different as well. So, to be safe, I think you're stuck with just picking items from '73 and '74, except for maybe the front doors....but if it's a '75 and later, the trim will be all wrong. Take a look at this website that puts vehicle brochures on-line to browse.
