I was yesterday years old when I found out that color was called "Lunar Green." That NASA and their wacky Moon shot....
Any of the non-white colors generally go with white, as car companies' art departments test colors on car models, then choose the most-appealing combos. I've seen both colors on trucks, and yes, it looks great.
I remember as a kid our neighbor had a construction business and bought a new ‘69 that color. It was just a standard issue pickup, but remember riding home from the dealer in the bed of that truck with two or three of his kids. Times were sure different then. I remember he traded it in on that mustardy butterscotch colored ‘72. Sure liked the green one better.
The truck above also has the factory steel wheel/dogdish hubcap look nailed. When I was little I loved stock hubcaps. Then I migrated to custom wheels being my thing. I must be getting old because I am now right back where I started. In love with stock hubcaps.
I currently own two trucks with the stock wheels and dog dish hubcaps. Well, technically three, although the 3rd only has them on the front at the moment...
They hold water when you take your truck swimming. I often went into water as deep as my front bumper while hunting and fishing. My stepdad had a 67 F250 that was the same or near color. It came with 16" split rim wheels which were a PITA. When I bought my 78 F250, I gave him my wheels and tires and bought a set of 36"x12"x16 wheels and tires. I needed them for traction while plowing snow and off roading.
Grandpa's F-100 which you are familiar with: My 75 F-250 Brownie: And last but not least the 67 F-250 Mossy:
