One of the local car dealers had a big car show on Saturday, August 27. I brought my two Toronados, and, while there was something like 150 to 200 cars there, I could find only two station wagons (and my two Toronados were the only Oldsmobiles). 1938 Ford Deluxe Woody 1964 Ford Falcon My two Toronados. They really could have used a larger space as the cars we mostly packed in like sardines. I was not able to position my cars side-by-side but rather in an L-shape. But it was still cool. Got lots of lookers, some of whom thought they were Cadillacs. Oh well. I commented to my wife that most of the people stopping to look were born when Calvin Coolidge was president.
The Coolidge quip reminds me of a Will Rogers quote about Coolidge: "He doesn't say much. But when he talks, he doesn't say much." As for the L-shaped parking, I consider that advantageous. It's easier to take both in, rather than one at a time if they were side-by-side. I wish I were there to see 'em.
I like that '38 Ford woody and nice Falcon too. But well, it's funny you mention that. If you squint hard enough, and to the untrained eye, they sort of do look Cadillac-ish. I never saw them that way before, but you can sort of see how they could be mistaken. Looks like a nice little show. Thanks for sharing the pics!
Neat show! I particularly like that little Falcon. VERY nice interior. Also caught a glimpse of a bronze-colored 'Bullet 'Bird' in the first shot of the '38 Woodie......
There were actually a couple of those. I didn't take many individual car photos other than the wagons and my cars. Here's another Bullet Bird in the middle of the line of cars in this distance shot. Cropped and enlarged. One other car that caught my camera was this 1963 Ford Galaxie XL convertible. Very nice car. For sale, too, but no price on it. But a phone number if you want to call.
Looks like a great show. I agree with Andrew, the "L" shape parking arrangement actually worked well for both of your cars.
