I had a hard time to find the tailgate window sweeper. I find one on a website who has some interesting and hard to find parts. They don't store many part, but it was the right store for me. The website is: www.oldgm.net
That's one of the things I love about this forum. People coming across information that might be pertinent to someone else on here and sharing it with everyone. Thanks for the info daniels.
So did you find the tailgate window sweep? I need one also for a Caprice wagon and can't seem to find a replacement. I looked on that site but doesn't look like they carry it.
Yes they unfortunately don't carry it because I bought the last one. And it was not a perfect fit. It is so difficult to find it's crazy. You can unscrew the chrome trim, get rid of the broken rubber sweep and replace it by cutting a new one of a rubber sheet. Not easy but feasible. You have to take off the window to do that. I hope you find a solution.
I called Rubber the Right Way about this piece and was told they sell a basic weatherstrip that can be cut to fit the tailgate window. But I don't believe that, since the ends of the tailgate window curve up (as you know) and there is no way a straight piece of rubber could be cut to fit that. I did find this one -- haven't bought it yet, but looking at the couple of pictures on their site, it does not seem like it would fit like the original. https://www.steelerubber.com/tailgate-window-felt-80-0804-57
Well, felts and rubber pieces conform to curves better than steel, when the original pieces are not specifically molded as they usually are. But if you can get bulk strips, rather than specifically-molded pieces, you can experiment without emptying your wallet too quickly.
