When my rear window is up there is a gap between the window and the outside frame where it would let water just run in when raining. Where does one go to get proper water shield if thats what it is called to remedy this problem? tks
First, what make and model wagon? If it has a roll-/down window, is the tailgate fully shut? Some cars with two-way tailgates can have a sag to them, and end up not closing all the way, or not closing at all.
Sorry, its a 1967 Country Squire with a magic door. Window goes up and down, opens as a tailgate or a door. The only thing is that I was told that when closed it can be opened as a door with the glass up account there is a safety latch or something within the latch that is broken to prevent this and not break your window when someone try to open it. AS of now someone could try to open it with the window up and I don't need to break the window or someone else could try it thus probably break the glass trying to open it. With that I was hoping you could point me in the correct direction to take this latch out and install this new one I have or maybe even fix the old one...... Also something about a water shield for this window, where does one get this? Tks for your assistance!
Well, since we now have an identified vehicle, it's supposed to have a window interlock to prevent opening without the window retracted. Later cars only had the interlock when the tailgate was dropped down. So, we have a '66 shop manual, I can photograph and email you those pages pertaining to the Magic Doorgate. I have a feeling still that it isn't correctly latching, leaving the glass too far away to seal up. Can you take a couple close-up pics of the tailgate's passenger end, post them here for me to look at? And also, the glass along the top? If the tailgate isn't latching correctly, the glass gap won't be even along the top. So, post up an email address, and I'll get you those pages in a day or two.
Thank you! When I get home (3 days) I will email you some pics with window up/down and latched shut. Truly appreciate this!! Jim
When you email them, my address is silvertwinkiehobo@gmail.com. I have the pics ready from the '66 manual, so I can send them to you after I receive your email.
