Great looking car, but perhaps one of the worst stagings I’ve seen on BAT. Almost every picture, even interior pictures have shadow casts. Like the slight dent in the drivers door the front drivers seat looked stained, until you had to look close. Hope I don’t sound nit-picky but this would give me pause before bidding. The other thing I found slightly disconcerting was he mentioned body flaws being shown in the gallery pictures and the only flaw was some missing dinoc on the rear passenger door. Would have liked to have seen a little better close up of that drivers door. Man I guess I am picky, but these aren’t $2,500 cars anymore. With the under hood pictures, not feeling 26,000 miles.

I agree on all counts, the choice of setting for the pictures with all the shadows makes me suspect of the overall condition of the car. But I almost always assume the seller is hiding something.
Also the way the exhaust is hung makes me question all the P/O Maint.

Noticed that too after my post. No way is this a 26,000 mile car.

Definitely a 126k mile vehicle, but in pretty decent shape for 126k. Note that the auction isn't claiming it to be a 26k mile vehicle. They just indicate '26k mile shown', 'TMU' (Total Miles Unknown')
Larger dent on driver's door COULD possibly pop out with work by a PDR specialist (Paintless Dent Repair). And that low-hanging exhaust REALLY needs to be fixed.......

Yeah he even makes mention that there is mileage discrepancy on the background check. You’re right that it’s in good shape for the mileage and age even 126,000 on a 30 plus year car still is low. My only point was that car pictures in shades and shadows are alway kinda iffy.

The steering wheel cover is another sign that it is 126,000

Certainly is. But on the other hand, the brake and gas pedals don't show the wear I would expect for 126K ( going by our 114K mile 87 Safari). Maybe FMC used better rubber than GM. Going by the condition of the rest of the car my guess is neither 26k or 126k, but somewhere in between.

One thing I have noticed about brake and gas pedal wear, a lot of times it can depend on the type of shoes that a driver wears or it can also depend on their driving style. For example, a friend of mine drives with 2 feet. The right foot on the gas left foot on the brake. When he brakes he puts his foot in the middle of the pedal and as a result does not really create any wear on the brake pedal. Those of us who push the brake pedal with the right hand edge of the pedal will have a tendency to wear the edge off. I have seen other higher mileage cars with decent pedals.

CURRENT BID: $9,175 ENDS IN: 4DAYS
This is fabulous car from 10 feet. Doors bottoms from what you can see shows no rust which is rare. Current owner has had it a year, driven it 1,000 miles,
"215/70 Goodyear Viva 2 tires that show 2009 date codes and should be replaced due to age. Service under current ownership has reportedly included cleaning the fuel tank and replacing the battery, fuel pump, and MAP sensor."
No mention of any regular type maint. that you would do when acquiring a car of this age.
At $9,175 it's a fair price for this example, my guess is that it will go over $12,000 which is too much.
I would venture to say this car has at least $4,000 in maintenance work that needs to happen, includes tires -
Have already owned 3 panther platform wagons, and I wouldn't touch this 1 at the price.

Wow! 16k with that mileage! I would understand if it were under 100k and had no dents

Crazy. A much nicer ‘84 Colony Park with 41k miles sold earlier this year for a more reasonable $11.5k. I guess inflation really is that bad.
