Very nice. I've not seen all white before. Very desirable two-door hardtop body style.

    A few observations.

    1. He has several "updates" towards the bottom of the ad, the first being August 5. So this ad was originally put up before August 5, meaning they've been trying to sell this car for at least two months now. Maybe it's time to consider lowering the asking price? While $21k doesn't seem totally outrageous for this car, they do not have a large following. and getting someone to pay that much for it may be difficult. For what it's worth, the Old Cars Price Guide lists the value of a '72 98 two-door hardtop in "car show" condition at about $11,000. I think something in that range, maybe up to $15,000, given the low mileage, would be reasonable. They may be waiting a while if they want $20k for it.

    2. I love the Freudian slips:

"Dropped fuel tank repaired gage wiring, fix curse control"

The "curse control" was an extra cost option on these cars, and few people bought it. I understand that, if it sounded to the car like you were about to utter the F-bomb, a big mechanical hand would drop from the roof and cover your mouth.

    3. I also always get a kick out of sellers who are trying to show us how nonchalant they are and how they don't really need to sell the car and will only do so if the right offer comes along.

"Driving and enjoying this car till the right offer. Just did another road trip to Wisconsin,"

Bullshit. You want to sell the car or you wouldn't be advertising it, and while you've set an asking price, you'll gladly entertain any offer, especially any close to your asking price.

    4. What is the point of a photo like this? And he actually has TWO of them. We see this now and then on these poorly-constructed craigslist ads.

So the trunk and the hood open. Big eff'n deal. We ASSUME that's the case, unless you tell us otherwise. The point of opening the trunk and the hood is to show us what's inside. He does show the engine, so that's fine. But no shots of the trunk interior. But we know for darn sure that the lid goes up!

It's a "this car is so great it competes in car shows" picture. Similar but slightly tamer than the "oopsies didn't mean to capture all of the other rare and exotic cars in the background of this picture in my personal collection so you can see how awesome I am" picture.

It's definitely a car show, but the car is off all by itself looking lonely and forgotten, and no one is looking at it.

    You guys sound jealous!

Hell, it is a nice car that I think any of us would be proud to own....heck and I'm not really an Olds guy!

If it were parked in a sea of exotics and Camaros and modern muscle, I sure would make a bee-line to go look at it.

No one is criticizing the car. The car is what it is. What we're criticizing is the AD for the car.
