I'm not sure if this first one is a Wagon or a "Crossover," but it's an Infiniti. It looks like a Modern Wagon to me.

This second car is a Mercury Sable.

I saw the same car again, at the same Home Depot, today.

Behind the front seats, the interior wasn't in very good shape.

The whole car isn't the best kept for example, but the body was straight and (generally) rust free. I saw some surface rust behind the rear wheels, and a few paint specks missing here and there. The driver door rain stripping was rotted, too.

You think that was an Estate wagon with the chrome surround?

The emblem said it was one. Like many wagons, I guess they just re-painted it.

I thought the paint around the red light (brake light, or side turn signal? I don't know these 70s Malibus) on the driver's side, near the bumper and gas cap, looked a bit strange up close. I wasn't sure what it was then.

Street scene from Fort Erie Ontario Canada .... looks like a 1951 or 1952 Chevrolet.
    Love the color.

The bezels around the front and rear marker lights, being surrounded by the wood grain applique, would have originally been painted a medium brown color to blend in with the wood grain. On wagons w/o the wood grain, they were painted the body color, whatever it was.

When I read the auction description for the Pinto wagon it said 6 CYL engine .... I figured it was a typo but when I saw the open-hood pictures it looks like a V-6 .... I had no idea you could get a Pinto with a bigger engine .... never mind the fact that in that era V-6's were almost unheard of.

Anyone here ever drive one ?? ... must have been peppy ..... the Pintos I drove all had the 4 CYL which had decent performance.

I plan to watch the auction tomorrow and will report back on the selling price .... right now it is at 5500 CDN $$ which is about $5000 US $$

I think there was a German V6 available (Merkur?) that was used in some Mercurys. Didn't know it was available in Fords.

The same 2.8 liter V6 that you could get in the Mustang II, became available in the Pinto for the 1975 model year - (Mercury Bobcat, too) After all, the Pinto and Mustang II were built off the same basic platform, so it made sense for Ford to offer the V6 for a little more oomph. You could only get it in the Pinto/Bobcat backed by an auto trans though. The production of the manual trans for the V6 was apparently limited, so they were all reserved for the Mustang II's.......

Looking through some brochures, it looks like you could still order the V6 for the '79 model year, but I see no indication it was offered for 1980 - the last year for the Pinto.
