I found a nice green one on craigslist for 2000 dollars. What do yall think? Should I go for the 67 ranch wagon or the fairlane? Which one in yalls opinion is the "rarer"? I like them both and since the green is only 2000 I can pay for that one pretty quikly.

I suppose I will have to go look at them first but all things being even, which would yall choose and why? Thanks.

390 in a '67 Fairlane would be rare. Most of those came with the 289.

Both are going to be fairly rare...Ranch Wagons were the base model and not that numerous...Most Ford wagons at that time were Country Squires and Country Sedans...Fords could be got with 390's,but you had to ask special for them at the dealer. 390's were the standard Mercury block, and 289's were the standard Ford block...The difference was 235 hp in the Fords and 325 in the Mercuries(Mercurys?)and between 10 and 12 mpg city/14 and 16 highway in the Fords and 9 or 10 mpg city/13 or 14 highway in the Mercuries...There was a 289 that got 13 mpg city and 17 highway, but it only had 160 hp---and didn't get put in the larger Fords and Mercuries. They could be got in Mustangs,Comets,Cougars and Falcons,though... Fairlanes were on their way out.Ford knew they would be replacing them with Torinos.
