IMO a white elephant. My first thought was that somebody got a bargain. Then I thought would any car person want to add miles to this ?

That's the issue with any of these old cars with less than 10,000 miles +/-. One reason value so high is low miles, so you cant drive or value falls to normal for whatever type of car it is.

Gosh by 1980, you think the dealer got an extra spiff, or some kind of hold back for selling a car with an 8 track?

Nice looking De Ville, but the 1980 and up models were not as good as the indestructible 1977-79 models. Or as good looking.

By then, it usually were demonstrators that had them. Mom's 1980 Silverado was a demonstrator, with a factory 8-track. As soon as I found out it had that, I begged and pleaded with Mom to get the dealer to swap it for a cassette deck, to no avail.

My Mom had a 1982 Buick Riviera. It also had a factory 8-track. I suspect 1982 was the last 8-track year for GM.

I seem to recall '82 or '83, from back then. Been so long, I can't remember the last new car or truck, after Mom's Silverado, that had an 8-track.
