28-Mile 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS for sale on BaT Auctions - ending June 13 (Lot #49,579) | Bring a Trailer
I still do not understand buying a car like this and not driving it? Saving it for someone else to enjoy? Rubbish! It is going to turn a decent profit, but investing the $20,000 or so paid for the car in the stock market for the same time would have brought in more $$$, And hang a picture on the wall of the car to look at.
I took the liberty of calculating $20,000 invested in an S&P index fund in 1996. Today with dividend reinvestment all in your value would be $1,344,500. Somewhat higher than the $40,000 this Impala brings. You’re right. Go to the dealer take all the pictures you want, hang em on the wall, then 24 years later take a slice of that $1.3 million and find a 28 mile Impala, and have a nice retirement! And, drive the hell out of that car. You can afford another one.
Well now we know what the top dollar amount is on one of these. I couldn’t imagine a better or lower mileage one. Maybe a 12 mile one will bring $50k
