My dad wasn't a 'car guy', so the particular vehicles he owned weren't important to him - they were just transportation. As a result, VERY few pics. He may have had one or two cars before I was born in 1951, but at least I've got a couple of pics of the very first car of my dad's that I REMEMBER, a 1948 (I think) Dodge....... This pic would have been taken around 1956, shortly after we moved into our new house, where I grew up.....
Here's the other pic that goes with it, taken at the same time. We lived in Mar Vista, a suburb in the city of Los Angeles, on the west side, between Culver City on the East and South, Santa Monica on the North, and Venice (also part of the city of L.A.) on the West......
Think I like the Blackwalls as well. I have a ‘49 Windsor and went with Blackwalls. On this type of car I like em
I sort of remember the back seat as pretty much a cave.......... Then again, I was only 4 or 5. I do remember breaking off the door key in the right door lock cylinder, while we were at the Hamburger Handout........ Dad was a bit upset.
Love your photos Krash. Half expect to Broderick Crawford ride up in this Patrol Car. Think you were a lucky lad to grow up in the LA suburbs in the 50s.
Unfortunately with Mr Crawford’s drinking issue he could knock out half that crowd. I had read a piece that towards the end of the series the actual Highway Patrol was getting nervous about having the association with that show.
May have seen same article. Remember reading that he had his drivers license suspended or revoked because of drunk driving and there are episodes where he is being driven by another actor. There are also episodes where he is viewed only driving up to some rural property and obviously not on a public road.
