Looks nice. Didn't mind the vinyl roof on sedans, but thought they looked weird on some coupes and wagons.

Nothing but trouble. A totally unnecessary option (vinyl tops) for a wagon.......

Yep....but vinyl roof appears to have done no damage with this Merc....so far.

My first car was a 77 Olds Cutlass Supreme. I built it using three cars, all of which had vinyl roofs. Out of the three only one had minor rust issues from the vinyl top! When I had it painted I didn't replace the vinyl, instead I painted the whole roof the color the vinyl would have been. To say the least I'm no fan of vinyl roofs!....Longroofs Rule not vinyl!

Hello All! This is my first post here as I am looking at placing an offer on this wagon...wondering what else other than the vinyl I should look for with these Mercury’s?

For context I have a 63 continental convertible that I did a considerable amount of research on before buying...but nothing prepares you for limit switches, Lincoln vert hydraulics and vacuum locks.

Just wondering what else I should ask about/look for before placing an offer.

Seller states this is grandpa’s car and they want it to go to a good final home not a reseller. (Open about stating it’s because a reseller offers less than someone who will be a more “final” owner.)

thanks for the help and I look forward to learning as much as I can and contributing in the future!

The vinyl bubbles are important, but definitely check the areas around the roof rack as they are prone to leaking over time. The bright work around the edges of the vinyl top where it meets the lip of the roof also is perfect for letting water in to the door glass, check for any signs of damage or water intrusion.

Check the rear quarter panels and spare tire area for rust or damage.

The headlight doors may need some help too.

Thank you Sir. Headlight doors are on the short list as he said they were recently repaired; however he did state all work was performed by one of those rare souls who still work for a Lincoln dealership when the 75’s were selling as new, and this man has helped make some repairs that the seller would have not been able to fix had he not had someone knowledgeable to assist.

Picked her up on Wednesday...lots of questions about this one for sure. I will make sure I take some time to go through it and ask about all the random wagon specific kind of things I would love to know more about...like do all the roof racks come with matching worm clamps for the rear wing?! :)

B8621EF0-8966-4338-B55B-CF2F7007A1FB.png Welcome DRVvlDog. What a lovely car. I really liked the way this one was equipped. I actually like the vinyl top. It looks like a car right off Barnaby Jones. Lol. I will PM you if you’d like. I have those wheel covers if you need a spare. Also it may not be remote, but I will double check I may have a correct RH outside mirror as well. My ‘77.

Does mine not have the correct right hand outside mirror?! :rofl2::rofl2::LOL:

I thought it looked great...I am a 60's Lincoln owner...having two mirrors is a luxury!

    Nice to meet you!!

Your 77 looks amazing too!! I can say that most of the trim on my car looks a little beat up, I still love these...it is also really cool to look across the hood while driving it and see that Lincoln logo!
