That's what I gathered. As for 'orange,' she should look at VW's 'Habanero Orange,' which is pretty popular on new VWs right now.
Yeah she is going to run the white wall and chrome hubcap on the white wheels. I'll have to tell her look at habanero orange.
That is awesome! Love it. I don't know exactly when or why it happened, but I have gone from being an "aftermarket custom wheels" kind of guy to a "factory steel wheel and hubcap" kind of guy. My buddies think I'm crazy. I tell them I'm just getting old.
I tell them it's the roads I drive on, I've seen a few broken alloy rims and have had to replace a pair of bent steel police rims on the Magnum before I sold it. But back on to topic, the Vdub is looking good it'll be a fun driver with the capability of hitting the trails if your daughter likes camping in out of the way spots.
I knew she liked the VW Thing for the last 7 or 8 years but didn't know the extent of her love for them. I found a matchbox car of a Thing a year or two ago and gave it to her as a joke but she actually loved it and I told her probably as close as she'll ever get to owning one because life is going to go on and she'll forget all about them. Guess I was wrong and it was funny when she started telling me how the '74's had the side vents and '73's didn't and '73 had a gas heater, she just started telling me all these little facts that I didn't know about them. I told her I guess she really was into them. She told me she has searched and read numerous articles on them. I am very happy for her and proud of her for working on it with me and my dad. Sunday evening when we called it a day she said, "it sure is hard work but everytime I see something done it just makes me want to keep going!"
Got all fenders and air vents off, all wheel wells cleaned and undercoated and even sprayed a test panel for Morgan with color she chose, Phoenix Orange.
Weather kept me from doing too much on it over the weekend but did manage to insert rivnuts to reinstall the vents on after painting. Cleaned and painted wiper arms, mostly small things but they have to be done too!
I replaced part of drip rail on the front trunk and had a small spot of rust to repair on lower quarter. My dad has stayed busy sanding and painting parts.
