Yes, I print. I have worked at a sign shop for 10 years. All my surf stickers are scanned and on file so printing those is a simple matter of finding some scrap pieces to print on when time permits. The hard part is remembering where the files are stored....
Don't I know how that goes. My wife had a sign ship for ten years, print/cut/laminate/fabricate. You could always find the tools but never the files.
Ah, man, that's even better. I dunno why it didn't occur to me...my thoughts bounce around like BBs in a boxcar. And, don't feel bad on looking for specific files, I have the same struggle with pictures on my laptop, especially ones I use for Craigslist and OfferUp ads. What really galls me is I'll run into one I've been looking for, but because I'm on another active search, I don't write down where the found pic is before continuing on. So that's my fault.
Happy Sunday! About 2 weeks ago had an equipment failure. Fan blade contacted the drive pulley, bent and tore out the radiator. Pulley is a two row, with the second "v" slot for powersteering, which I do not have. So.... new radiator purchased, new single v pulley ordered and she is back together. Nearly killed my back getting that puppy out because the fan was really buried into it. Old pulley: New pulley: Plenty room now with 1/2 inch from the rad. and nearly an inch from the pulley. (Note the hammered out formerly-bent fan blade now re-painted.) Car back on the road with the temp gauge showing normal. Life is good, and less than $200. spent for all repairs. Respectfully submitted, Jairus
That doesen't look like a total loss. You could try recuperating some of the cost of a new radiator, through selling that one pictured as modern art to be hung at a vocational school classroom, as a warning to future mechanics students I'd be carefull, while driving through Tennessee. If a cop were to pull you over and make you pop that hood, he'd think that you're running a distillery
Glad to hear you are back on the road Jairus. Are you going to run a fan shroud? I love your coolant overflow bottle.
You *should* use a shroud, it does increase cooling efficiency, but unless you're surfing on OB in San Diego, I doubt you *need* it.
As for a shroud.... I would have to make one myself and not quite sure how to attach it. What I have found is the drive pulley is too small. Car runs plenty cool moving around town, but if the red light runs long or stuck in traffic, the temp does tend to creep up. The old pulley was the right diameter, so I took it to guy. He said he'll backside weld the hub to the inner ring and then use his vertical drop band saw to cut off the front ring. Things should return to normal operation after that. As the pump and the fan running at normal speed were perfect for 9.5 years, sans shroud. As for the coolant overflow bottle. That's the second one since the first got stained and dirty inside. Looking forward to emptying the next....
Update: Been more than a year since I last posted. Car is running strong for it's advanced age, but I did need to have a mechanic hired to replace the rear wheel slave cylinders, brake shoes and rear wheel bearings. Took him 3 weeks and a bit over $400 but no bad noises and runs strong. Sad news... my Mom never liked my wagon. She passed from pancreatic cancer August 31 and gave me her Ford Fusion. Nice car! But not cool as a 1958 Wagon so I gotta decision to make. Keep them both and assume the responsibility for insurance and registration... or sell the wagon. I hate this stuff.
Does Oregon insurance law allow companies to sell 'broadform' insurance, which covers the driver, no matter which car they drive? I used to have broadform when I lived here in WA, but TX doesn't allow it.
I have my 71 C10 and my 63 Country Sedan on a policy with Hagerty (there are others as well) but it runs me maybe $460 per year. Both vehicles have antique auto tags. Point being, if you want to keep the wagon there is less expensive insurance options to make it happen. My condolences on the loss of your Mom.
April 1 and I am no fool. Sun came out so I dragged the wagon into the drive for a wash and put the boards back on top. Then went and got some gas in her and drove for a bit. Runs sweet still and no issues.
