For us, it's too late. We're both past our "use by" date and the joints are squeaking. I bought a one year old car in 2015 with 20,000 miles on it. Made one and half 1100 mile trips betwen Florida and Illinois plus riding around to visit. Still shows around 35,000. Still has 10% oil life and last change was in 2017. The sunroof has been opened a few times!
We rented one of those a couple of years ago, actually it was a Malibu. We called it Barbie the entire time we had it. Nice car.
I image that like most folks, due to the corona virus, we were unable to attend church on Easter Sunday. I was talking with my SIL on Sunday and I said "There was a time in my life when I didn't attend church regularly, but this is the first time in my life that I have not gone to church on Easter Sunday" So, knowing that was going to the case the boys and I went for a drive last week. I wanted to find a spot that we could have our own private sunrise service. The plan sort of unfolded as we were driving. We ended up in the hills above our house in a spot that is being excavated for some new houses. It turned out to be the perfect spot. Looking south: Looking East:
It's hard to believe, but I first started this thread in 2014. Once I brought Grandpa's truck home I made a list of things that I wanted to do to it eventually. I have slowly been chipping away at that list, and one of the things on there is powdercoating the wheels. It's hard to believe, but I haven't gotten that done yet. I figured that would be one of the first things I would do, but here I am in June of 2020 and I am just now getting to it! So, I had the tires dismounted and brought all four of the wheels to the local powdercoating outfit to have them sandblasted and then powder coated. My buddy at the tire shop said he had a set of wheels he would just swap me for what was on the truck. I thought about it and I told him that pretty much everything on here is original, including the wheels. It may sound weird, but I'd like to keep it that way. He smiled and said "I get it."
Yeah. Plus Grandpa May have kicked one of those wheels/tires when he bought it. Definitely agree. Keep it the way Grandpa bought it!
Exactly. I'm glad you kept it that way. Even though you're powder coating them, rather than painting them, at least they are the originals. Heh, hopefully the dog dishes pop on after the powder coating's done, and make sure the conical areas for the lugs are bare metal before reinstalling them.
Grandpa would be very proud and so would your Grandchildren if my memory serves me correctly with your family , to all Old friends and its been to long time and hope your all safe ? From Downunder
Oh my gosh Dennis, it has been a long time. So good to see you. Being a typical car pig, hows your lovely Mercury?
This outfit does all of the powdercoating for our Manufacturing plant, so they're up to snuff. They did the wheels for the Fairlane as well as the IH service truck.
