Typical low option Catalina, but it does have the factory gauge cluster. https://www.ebay.com/itm/124198979848
I agree. I much prefer the vacuum gauge on a car for engine monitoring, but by 1978 an already not-so-popular option was even rarer. The car looks nice but it's a little pricey in my opinion for a no-AC, no-power-options, 301 car.
It is a very base car, the only other options I see other than the Previously mentioned Gauge Package with clock, are Bumper guards & Rub strips, also full wheel covers, and that is it. Can't see what type of radio it has but I suspect AM Mono radio with 1 speaker. Nice car, but I agree that the price is a bit steep for a 301 powered base model wagon.
Also on craigslist in Maine. https://maine.craigslist.org/cto/d/waldoboro-1978-pontiac-catalina-safari/7129317445.html
Now up to $9,300 bid. It is a low option car but certainly has been well preserved. Maybe it was too hot to drive withhout a/c even in Maine.
I think this is the car that was for sale in Waterbury Ct I tried to buy. Glad I didn't get it since the wagon I have now has the beautiful wood grain http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/threads/1978-pontiac-catalina-safari.44705/
