It’s interesting this car was for sale at a dealership in Chicago. At that time they were asking like $57,000. I wonder what he paid for it. It is probably the best example of one out there. The colors really are stunning. Plus this one was on this site not too long ago as well. I hope it finds a good long term loving home.

Wow ! She pops. The 65 Olds on this site stopped at $8. Olds was rare and good looking but did not have the charisma of this Chevy.

Maybe it’s the same dealer auctioning it. I could see this wagon being worth 50K+ maybe a few years from now as it’s condition is unbelievable. Currently at 32K with 6 hours to go so if it’s the same dealer he is probably a bit nervous right now.

I’m not sure about that. The car says it’s in New Jersey. I think what happen when the dealer in IL got it there were a few little scrapes and things on it. The car was originally from the Chicagoland area, probably built in Janesville. I think this new buyer got it and either fixed it and is trying to maybe flip it for some extra cash. Who knows????

$34,750 24 min to go. I bet reserve not met. You couldn't restore one to that condition for that money though.

It’s a no reserve auction; this wagon is going to sell at some price. I bet it still has some more to go.

It has the SS lights but not the hideaway headlights. Don't think I've ever seen the steps on the rear bumper.
Can someone verify the air deflector being correct? Looks like one I pulled from a Vista Cruiser years ago.
I would expect one like the Chevelles used. If the extruded aluminum is oem, than I can live without it.
Beautiful car. My beater turns heads, that one would cause accidents.

THe air deflector IS correct. The steps on the back bumper are for the rear Third seat. The Chevy only had the fold down rear door and the steps were assist to get in to The rear, rear facing seat. Not sure what you mean by SS lights. Hideaway lights were an option, but not standard on Caprice. The only non original option, but correct are the rally wheels. The window sticker mentions “full wheel covers” which would have been the black centered “Caprice” wheel cover. There was no rally wheel listed on the sticker, but they look great, and are correct.

SS lights can be seen just above the ends of the front bumper, replacing a chromed casting. My 68 still had
the original 14x6 wheels with hubcaps, swapped them for my Corvette 15x8 rallys so my mom could keep the beast
between the lines. Disc brakes were a big help too.

This was definitely one of a kind. Probably as nice a 50 year old car can be and an original loaded wagon to boot. I think I'd be too paranoid to drive this car on the street. Hopefully it went to a nice climate controlled garage.
