Odd color combo, but in great shape but priced accordingly at $17,500. I always Liked this Body style. But I don't know about that interior color with those exterior colors. https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/cto/d/1973-buick-riviera-stage-1-gs/6575049150.html
The original buyer likely fencilpucked themselves when ordering, because if the factory made that mistake and your order sheet proved it to be not what you ordered, you could demand, at that time, either another car, or have the dealer shoot the correct color you ordered. It used to happen, very seldomly according to my late friend George, who sold cars for nearly fifty years, but it was always possible. The only other thing would be a dealer stock order mistake, which George said happened a bit more often.
It looks like only the air cleaner lid is Stage 1. The rest looks like one from an ordinary two barreled carburetor. The rear bumper looks like one for a '72 and downwards car, being that it isn't matching the front 5 mph one
The car is correct and so is the rear bumper. It's pretty fugly and doesn't look like it has been well taken care of. These cars are really starting to hit in the collector market although the color combo on this will hold it back. Not very well optioned and only 73 and 74 Riv's were available with the Stage 1 option not 71 thru 73 as the seller states.
Is that interior red or brown? Personally, I like the exterior color, despite not being particularly fond of blue. If the interior is brown, it might be worthwhile to look for a white or gray one and keep the paint the way it is
Correct in 73 only the front bumper had to be 5mph, 74 and later (until the regulation was changed) it was front and rear. That interior looks to be Maroon to my eyes. Even brown would be somewhat odd with blue & white exterior to my eyes. But not as odd as Maroon.
