I want to put a GPS tracker on "Sarge". Most of the ones I see connect to newer cars with computers. Others require some sort of monitoring service. I just want a device I can activate if necessary and view on my cellphone. Any suggestions?
I haven't looke dinto it much myself but aren't there little chips you can buy that give out a GPS signal and which you could conceal somewhere in the car? I heard there are ones small enough to fit inside guitars, too.
I could be wrong, but I'm thinking those have a very limited range. (I don't let my guitars outta my sight)
I've heard that if they're concealed, the communication with the satellite is severed. They have to be hidden where there are no barriers. I'd like nothing better than to be proved wrong, since I'm also interested in getting concealable transmitters
nhad the concealed ones on some of my trucks yrs ago and it lead to some interesting conversations and situations. depending on your driving habits as it may give you a reduction in insurance
We use Fleetmatix for our rigs at work, but they are likely only compatible with newer stuff. I know we have customers that have installed Lojack on their tractors (some of which are older and very low tech) and have had success. But I think in each case you have to sign up for some sort of subscription. I'd suggest doing an internet search. There's bound to be something out there that fits your application.
Getting around them is just simple common sense https://www.quora.com/How-can-I-disable-a-GPS-tracking-device-on-car
I ran across this by an ad on Facebook. Anyone have experience with it? This looks like what I'm looking for. https://www.shopreview.co/products/magnetic-mini-gps-real-time-tracking-locator
How do you track teens with it? Wouldn't they notice one of those sticking to their braces? The product reviews make it sound worthwhile, if they aren't fake. Twenty bucks isn't a major loss, if the device truly's disappointing. The following would be questions I would have: 1- How much service time between recharges/batteries? 2- Transmitting capability despite concealed mounting? 3- Hidden fees: Here in Europe, good transmitters require a yearly satellite service fee?
