What a great looking car! Then I saw the engine... yuck. Not a fan of these 302. I know them well. It’s what I have in my wagon but unfortunately it belongs there. So many vacuum hoses and that gawd awful intake mani. I wonder why?? The seller calls it an upgrade and keeps calling it a Lincoln. A Lincoln overdrive transmission. You mean AOD? Wonder if the frame is a 66’ or 86’? The seller is called cobra man. For that price a cobra intake manifold at least is in order. Looks like a K&N job on the air cleaner. I’d like a better look at that setup. Just for s’s and g’s. I think the engine upgrade knocks off $5-$10,000.

If I read the VIN right, this originally had a 390 -- as so many did -- which I, for one, would prefer. The gas mileage may not be as good as the 302, but the pre-computer FE motor is a lot simpler. And, from what I understand, you're not going to get 25 mpg from the port injected 302, anyway. Supposedly, the CFI version can get you 20 - 25 mpg, but they're a lot slower. By the way, it is possible to squeeze 20 mpg from a 390 with a very light foot; I've done it.

Once again, note the non-authentic replacement woodgrain. Unless this is the super cheap aftermarket stuff, I can't figure out why people use this. I don't think it would cost any more to use an authentic type reproduction decal. I think they're still available.

As for the wheels and tires, it's a matter of taste, but I'd lose them. I believe these wheels are quite expensive, but I don't think anything looks better on these than the top factory options -- whitewalls (not wide whites) and deluxe wheel covers. They're easier to take care of and less likely to get stolen.

I'm not big into paying extra for mods that I'm going to have to pay still more to have undone.

I'm thinking that '66 Squires -- even "upgraded" ones -- are not up to this price point yet.

Thats a lot of money .... but if you found a rust free car and did all this work, it would be much more than this to do it.

When I first read through the thread here I thought the "Lincoln" drive train would be from a Mark VII which has the HO 5.0 motor (225hp). This isn't a bad source since they tend not to have been beaten has hard as a Mustang. But the ebay pic of the engine compartment shows a standard output 5.0 not an HO. So the "Lincoln" drive train was probably sourced from and '86 to '90 town car. That would be 150 hp. 24 mpg is what I get from both the SO 5.0 in my Colony Park and the HO 5.0 in my Mark VII on the highway.

Nice wagon, but I've got a couple issues with it......

    1. He's hitting himself in the foot, saying it's a 'Lincoln' engine. That 5.0 FI is a FORD engine. In the period that the engine came from, ALL Lincolns had FORD corporate engines. If he wants to tell what kind of car it came from, fine - but it really doesn't matter in this case. (And if he had used say a 410 Lincoln from the early-mid 60's, I think it would have cool - would have been a 'plus' in my book.)

    2. Wrong grill. Grill he's using came on the Galaxies / Country Sedan. Should have this grill, which looks much snazzier, IMO.....
