Like when your beloved family pet finally reaches that age and you have to put it down, sometimes you just have to let cars go, too, and this is one of those times. The car is an absolute mess, and it's barely worth his $100 starting bid. His BIN price of $3,000 is a laugh and a half.

The rust around the tailgate is particularly ugly and suggests significant structural integrity issues throughout the car. I'm not sure it's even worth anything to a derbyist as the car would probably crumple the first time it bumped into a blade of grass. As much as derby people are looking for cheap cars, I think they still want something that retains at least some structural rigidity. I would not assume that to be the case with this car.

He says "has been family owned since it was new." I imagine the car was the family's pride and joy early on, and it's so sad to see these once proud behemoths reduced to this condition. Couldn't the family have been a little nicer to it?

Agreed, parts car. "Time to save this classic before it's too late!" Sorry, no; the ship sailed.

That rust around the rear window's not looking good.

It's one of those ads. Couldn't they have taken the big toy dragon or whatever it is out?

I'm not certain even the engine's going to be worth it in this thing unless it sells cheaply.

If the rust is only extreme where shown, it might be worth turning it into a pick-up

I've seen that done to a 76 Buick before.

Currently at $232.5o with reserve not met. This Olds clearly got pushed into the shed way too late.

And then maybe turn the focus knob on the camera lens?

That's more than I think the car is worth. Good for him.
