I had a 2 year older half tonner as a panel truck. It was so rusty that you could move the entire body from the rear. It ran good and handled well. Even, on the turnpike. Back then, you could get something like that one pictured for dirt cheap

 

I always liked that body style Dodge truck.

 

Other than patching up some spots, I'd leave and drive it exactly the way it is.
