Thanks LongRoof79, I worked for D'lorean, and drove many, and my boss before that had one too...so kinda been surrounded by them for a while...yes, can taken 'em, or not! Would rather not, but did have ONE favorite that I would take for sure, if offered. #5094, she was a dream to drive!! Yes Ratfink65, I am not a Weld fan, especially the pizza cutters on the front, but they kinda go with her. I would prefer Cragar's if I stayed with this look, BUT we have some new shoes for her that are more "period" appropriate I think and look really sharp on her. Can't wait to get them on, but have to tweek front end before they will fit...if I can get pix to load today, will show them... some pix won't even load into my "garage" so I'm either doing something wrong or pix too big, or something, haven't had time to figure out why or what... :banghead3: And thanks again guys for all the wonderful welcomes...I'm definitely feeling like part of the crazy group already OMGoodness, lookie there, it loaded...weird, maybe a daily allotment of frustration or something...pix of new shoes, but will have center "moons" as well (not shown). Just more of a period appropriate rally wheel...what do you guys with a wagon-eyeball think??
Oh, and I probably failed to mention the 1976 Ford Country Squire, yellow with woodside, in our driveway too...but it's not mine, it's a relative's, also a restore project...it's his second one, so yeah, it's a crazy crazy world I live in...hee
Well my wagon eyeball is not as good as it used ta wuz but I love those wheels and the color. As for downsizing photos try "Fotosizer" --- It's so easy I can do it.
The Rallys serve several purposes: update the look without compromising style, get her front end off the ground cause headers drag, make it a smoother/safer ride, and give a little more support to that heavy engine. Went same size all around, but the fronts might end up being too big. (They were obtained at a swap meet, car was not there to try.) Needs some bumpers and some new parts in front to bring it up (rubber bumpers need replacing anyway), and hopefully they will clear...if not, I guess I'm looking for more rims...ugh! Probably stay with the bigger back, smaller front mode if I have to, but still go bigger than the Welds that are on it now. One more mod planned for future is a gear ratio change. Geared with three speeds, shifts early and ROARS down the road at highway speeds. Want to put a "cruiser" gear in so longer trips are more pleasing...a true cruiser wagon. I love to drag, but don't want to risk this car on a strip!! So current set up is kinda pointless or wasted (IMHO). Immediate is a new fuel pump, it seems to be going out as she sputtered on the way home from last show...not fun! Thought possible bad gas, but measuring pressure, pump is failing - wee fun!! Did I mention car poor and never ending evolving projects...oh yeah, you guys know the pain...
Mary, The car looks great with the rallys. The Welds look good, but have more of a drag car look. A set of flat police(corporate) caps, or disc brake caps would look really cool on there. As for the trans, or highway gear, a nicely built 700-R4 or a later 4L60(80)E type trans would have the durability and overdrive feature that would go nicely with the big block. Jack
Hi Mary, aboard. Love your wagon... and her name, very fitting. So when you said you had a few horses I thought you meant with four legs. That is an impressive stable you have there. Sounds like you know your way around it too. Always nice to have another she around here. Hope your able to meet us in the lounge sometime.
Thanks fannie, Actually, I have four-legged horses too...they eat twice a day, every day (well, they eat all the time really!!)...the HP Horses don't always eat at much!! And the four-legged ones multiply, have one ready to drop any day (or at least we are hoping sometime soon...geez!) Will have to check out the lounge...still trying to figure out pix issues, like how you got it to come full screen and I can only get "thumbnails" inserted...but I'll keep plugging at it I'm hard headed like that...
Just to confirm about the four-legged HP family members...newest addition - dubbed "Taz" , for obvious reasons, born Friday April 10th at 11:30pm... already won't fit in the back of the Bel Air (making it wagon related!)
Awwww Cute! Fannie and I are always joking about calling cars cute. Cars are NOT cute! But Taz is really cute!
Okay, so almost two years later...and III'mmmm BBaayaackk... Not sure what to say other than life, gets in the way - a move, a WWII Veteran in the hospital almost a year, then home a year...and phew... I still haven't raised the front end on Bernadette, or put the rally's on, and for some INSANE reason we now have seven Volkswagens in various forms sitting in the shop that have taken time away from her... Not to mention five four-legged horse powers trasping through and one dog shapped four-legged added to the menagerie... Somewhere in there, eating, sleeping, working and who the heck knows what else... Drifting through again, waving hello
