Incredibly rare wagon at scrap value of $500. (Only the second year, after 1977, that a Cougar wagon was offered.) All power options, as well as AC, electric rear defroster, Twin Comfort Lounge front seats, cruise control, and original family owners. Someone please scoop this one up. It deserves to survive. https://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/cto/6078591851.html
Pardon the ignorance, I am a GM guy, Is this wagon built off the Fairmont base?.... never seen one of these! Someone ought to gobble it up at that price!....Longroofs Rule!
That is correct. And the Cougar wagon on the Fairmont platform was ONLY sold in the '82 model year. The next year, it got a new slanted nose, and a new name - 'Marquis'.
This looks worth saving, but also too far away for me as well. Stock images of these are very hard to find on Bing.
The Fairmont, of course, was the original Fox platform car. That means a lot of Mustang parts will fit, in case you want to do suspension upgrades, etc. The Fairmont had a V8 option in the earlier years, so a swap would be pretty easy. Please, though, to whoever ends up with this car, don't swap on a Mustang front clip. It's been done and the Cougar is too rare to mess with cosmetically. $500 and a couple hundred for a good used C4 or C5 tranny -- you could probably have this on the road for $1500 to $2000. You won't get a lot of respect from the classic Cougar crowd, but the wagon people will go nuts. We know what this is. If this were closer to me, I know I couldn't resist, so I suppose I'm relieved it's not.
If that were near me, I would probably grab it.......and I'm not even considering another vehicle right now.
