Anyone know what the stock stall rating is for a 1961 Ford Country Squire with an FMX tranny? Anyone know how to find that info? Thanks!

The Ford shop manuals usually list stall speed ranges for various engine configurations. The FMX did not appear until 68 though. BTW, it is my understanding that stall speed will vary depending on engine torque output. My 1969 shop manual list 200 RPM ranges for stall speeds. The V8s fall into the 1750 - 2000 RPM ranges.

Plenty of people here could have answered this question before this but because of no newbie intro almost all of them chose to ignore the question, including me.

Connect a tach to the engine. Stand on the brake. Apply the gas. Note the RPM where the engine stalls.

Understand that stall speed is not a fixed number for a given converter. An engine that makes more torque will stall a given converter at a higher RPM than a lesser engine will.

Wouldn't a '61 have either a two-speed aluminum case Fordomatic or a Cruiseomatic with three speeds? Cast iron case three-speed Fordomatic ended at some point, like maybe 1959?
