Wow, Mike. I almost cried when I saw that pic. With the history you and your wagon have it was painful to think any harm came to it. kurtbrown hit one with his '95 a year or two ago. I think he's still scrounging parts to put it right again. They aren't as common in the wrecking yards around these parts.

Strangely I have never hit a deer up here in the Great White North. I worked with a guy who hit one almost every year. I think he was up to 6 at one point. I did have one hit me once but neither of us were hurt.

It is amazing how some folks who live in "Deer country" can go their whole lives without hitting one, and others who live in places where the deer aren't as populous end up running into one. My brother hit a deer in his 5.0 Mustang about 6 years ago on the way to our sister's wedding. It was hunting season and we gave him grief for not tagging the bugger, but he said after it smacked his car it jumped up an ran away. We ended up fixing the Mustang to better than new, but in a lot of cases those four legged car wreckers do a lot more damage.
Fortunately for Texas Mike, his car isn't beyond repair and will live to cruise another day.

I was just thinking about Texas Mike the other day. It seems to me it's been awhile since he has posted. Has anyone heard from him lately?

Yup - plenty of posts on FB on the wagon. It's basically all done, except for the A/C recharge. He even upgraded the second seat to a sedan unit - a popular mod in these. (Wagon second seat is pretty flat, so it can fold flat. Sedan seat can fold, but it won't lay all the way flat.) If you can live with that one drawback, it makes it pretty nice for your rear seat passengers.

Hi Folks! Our good friend Krash brought it to my attention that I had badly slacked-off in updates on this project here. I'm sorry folks. I love this forum, but have not been active lately. I HAVE kept a really good album of the repairs on Facebook...mainly because it's easy to upload pics to it from my phone.

A few things to note. I did NOT end up using the fender from earlier in this thread. Once on the car, it just did not match in direct sunlight...it was a lot more faded than the wood on my car. Finding a fender with wood that was a close-enough match turned out to take the most time, since I could not find new wood for the car, my only choice was going with a used fender, and 20-year-old WHITE (had to be white...different colors fenders cause the wood be colored different...base color changes the wood's tint) with decent wood, in Texas, was HARD!

It also took me a while to gather enough funds, but the car is NEARLY done, as noted. SO let me get to work here! You want pics? I GOT pics!

    -Mike

1/23/2016 - After being sick over this for a good month, I finally backed the Roady out of the garage for the fist time since the deer damaged it here.

Amazingly the hood still latched and poped...wow. I like how the stand-up hood ornament is pointing completely forward here. Amazing it wasn't broken!

Hood up, time to document the damage and start removal.

Bumper cover was ok, but needed new metal trim. This trim was dented and bent from impact on both sides. Bumper flexed, trim did not.

    About to tear her down...

Damage to fender, headlight area and a/c condenser.

Damaged hood latch and radiator support.

The deer went through the grill. You can really see Radiator support pushed-in here.

Damaged fender and bent K&N intake housing.

Even the lense on the underside of the hood got knocked off...

1/23/16 -My nephew Hunter was in town, the weather was great, so took advantage of the help and the great weather and began the teardown.

My son Eddie Massey and Hunter tearing the Roady down. Hood off, working on removing the bumper cover.

    Good work guys!!

I'm bought enough white paint to take care if a few more wants...Lemonade from Lemons and such. Resto plan included re-painting the rear bumper cover and door mirrors along with the front end parts. Not damaged but 20-years of wear on them.

Rear bumper cover off....good job Eddie and Hunter!

This was as far as we got on Day-1 of the repairs, January 23, 2016...pulled back in the garage after this pic.

1/30/2016 - I CAREFULLY took the front door panels off today and removed both door mirrors. They had 20-years of road-pecks on them. Been wanting to re-paint them for years...trying to make Lemonade from Lemons again.

Removed door panels to remove door mirrors for painting.

    Mirrors off.

Next on the list was taking all the trim off the front bumper cover and getting both ready for painting.

Both of these pieces of front bumper trim were bent. I put the word out on Facebook that I needed these, as all the ones in the yards were bad that I was finding. Amazingly I ended up getting trim from fellow Roadmaster owners in Georgia and Washington State. Wagon folks are the BEST!

You can really see the damage here on these. Dang Deer!!
