Howdy there, been lurking for a while thought I should introduce my self.

Hi, im tim! And I have a 1984 olds custom cruiser, the transmission just went poop in it :( I love the car, hope to get a replacement trans for my birthday this weekend

The car has "21600" miles haha

I live down in naples, fl, ive seen a few wagons in my town, but mine looks the best on the outside, to me at least!

Cant want to hear from people, and try and make some car meets, or cruises

What tranny is in it now. Our son deals with the local U-Pull-It near Gainseville. He has a 1994 or so TBI engine and changed to a heavy duty 5-speed tranny. He still runs a brain box and used all of the '94 engine wiring. He says he gets in the 20's in a 1984 long bed Chevy truck. It runs great.
Good enough he tore out a heavy duty posi rear.

In my mature age I prefer an auto now.

PS the condo friends went back to Vermont to play in the snow. They won't give me a key to the condo.

Dang, lol it's a grand time. Right now the car has a olds 307 mated to a 200-4R, I found a kit for 1500+transmission for a bolt in 6 speed to the GM A and B bodies, just waiting on them to finish it up haha but that still at least 6 months away

Our '55 Chevy wagon with a 305 has a rebuilt 200-4R that I got when the Webster flea market was still a large car flea market. Got it cheap and it's still working... I think. The wagon is in Illinois now in my garage.
$15o0 + a tranny? Seems high. There are several GM 5-speeds. Some of the S-10 standards are not worth buying unless you use a 4-cyl, engine.
Son bought his out of a one ton diesel. It's twice as large and three times heavier than the Camaro type. He used a heavy duty clutch set up too. Now it's U-joints and rear ends that fail. Did I mention he's a 26 year old retard?:coco::evilsmile:

It's so custom with pedals, hoses, master and slave, clutch and flywheel. And the t56 is around 3k new haha im 25 until Sunday, but I just want a cruiser, I have a car race already, I cant stand the 2.73:1 rear gear though...

Well Happy 26th to you.:party4: Are you getting the bell housing with that? I realize all of those parts don't come cheap.
I have no idea what our son's 5-speed model is. He's torn up more cars and trucks than I've owned. He's a good mechanic and now a custom motorcycle engine builder... Still a retard!

I have to, my current collection is the 84 cruiser, 2016 scion iA, a suzuki gs1100 in my race buggy, and a 83 suzuki gr650 haha

I think the bell comes too, off you get the full kit with trans, you get a new cross member, driveshaft, pcm program if need, center consol...everything you could possibly need haha

I want to punch the 1100 to 13xx, and the 650 I just need to get running...haha so much stuff to do on that one I'm limited to 1600, and no forced induction or nos with my 1100

    Welcome aboard Tim.
The 200-4R is a more expensive trans to build...or should I say "build right". The TH350 would make a good replacement, but you'd lose the overdrive capability. Although, having a 2.73 gear ratio, you really wouldn't need overdrive.
I like the thought of going with a T5 or T56, but the T56's are quite expensive.
Looks like a nice wagon overall.

Sometimes you can find a decent used 2oo 4R on Craigs list and other places cheap. Our '55 wagon has a high Camaro rear end too. I forget which but not so good with the over drive tranny. It's idling at cruising speed.

I picked up a 700-R4 just now, traded a dual 12" sub box for it, needs a rebuild! Now to see what I need to change to make it work in my car haha
