Hello, just coming aboard though I have been peeking in for awhile. I have been looking for a wagon for sometime. I have had a dream to get one on the road and back to the campsites. Two weeks ago I put my name on a 1963 Olds Dynamic 88 Fiesta. Wife don't see what I do but she will come around. Glass is all good and the chrome is awesome and that are two plusses to me. She has sat for the last 30 years and the packrats have had their way with the interior but there is a good base. I am a car nerd and if you can tell by my forum name I own Chevy, Olds and Jeep. In that is a Cherokee, Suburban, 442, Hurst Olds, Caprice and 2 Monte Carlos. The wagon dream has been with me a long time and she will be used for travel when done. I found that the forums of various car enthusiasts has been the best resources. I look forward to picking the brains of those who have been there.
Welcome she's a nice looking wagon. Enjoy her. Wife don't see what I do but she will come around. She has sat for the last 30 years and the packrats have had their way Too bad about the wife!
Thanks for the welcome. ModT when you posted I thought, wow I did not do well in wording that, then I reread it. I figure you must read like my kids listen, Just what you want to hear. That was good, got my attention.
Welcome to the forum........ Questions, questions, questions.... Which engine - the standard 2-barrel 394 (with 10:25 - 1 compression ration - YIKES!) or the 4-barrel version? (Then again, the original engine may have been replaced a long time ago.) You will certainly be the only one on your block to have a '63 Olds station wagon. Side note: We have something in common. My very first car, at the age of 17 in 1969, was a 1963 Oldsmobile - a F-85 Cutlass Coupe to be exact. Good to have you here. Looking forward to seeing the transformation over in the 'Projects' section.... Marshall
It has the 394 2bbl. You say Yikes so how about a translation. I am certainly more familiar with the Olds V8 of the 70's and this red beast of 63 is new to my wheelhouse. As is the transmission that has reverse where I am used to Low 1.
Welcome aboard! It looks to be in nice original condition overall. ...I like it. Had it been stored outdoors all those years...or is it one of those proverbial barn finds? In either case it's a nice score. BTW, was the hood included?
She was sitting on top of a hill next to a hedge row since 1978. Amazing that the body survived very well. Hood is with car bit hinges were frozen open so removed to transport. Here is a pic how I found her.
