Well Tedy's memory reminds me of the 1956 Buick 2-door HT I bought from a supervisor. The odometer mileage wasn't bad and it ran great. But the fronts of both rear wheels were so badly rusted the car looked more like a 4-door with the rear doors missing!:yikes:

Keep in mind when driving with the windows down it's worse than driving with AC on because of the wind resistance. So driving a vehicle like the wagon pictured or Tedy's first rusty truck would get a worse fuel mileage because of the passing wind going up under the rust holes and causing back presssure. Another reason Bondo is your friend.
Each pound of Bondo added increases fuel mileage.:2cents:
This is a public service announcement.:p

I changed the engine oil and filter and am using an Amsoil EaO15 and Castrol 5w30 Magnatec. I do believe this oil works as it says; it clings to parts better while the car's off than other oils. The reason I chose it is for easier starts during the winter months, while I'm not driving it but only turn it on to idle it as a maintenance measure. I also drove it to the fuel station, bought four gallons of 100% gas ($2.99 per gallon) and then went on the highway for a short stint then talked with a friend at an auto parts store, then went home.

Amsoil says their filter captures 20 micron particles at a 98.7% efficiency, BTW. It's also supposed to last 15 or 25k miles, or a year.

Put 12 Oz. Gas Antifreeze in the fuel tank.

Also thinking to put seat covers on some time, cleaning the interior and fixing the two rust spots (on the tailgate and under one of the roof strips.)

Helped StorminNorman install his windshield and engine hood.
He's making good progress on his project.
At this point I think he's done all the repairs and is putting it back together.

Passing wind in a closed car can be very bad. :D
    Thanks for the warning.

I replaced the torque strut (dogbone) replaced the cooling fan switch and the air filter.
Did a little painting under the hood, air cleaner and dogbone bracket.
Went to the upholstery shop and ordered new vinyl for the drivers seat.

I am finally getting something done on my 454 build to go in my 91 OCC. I finally got the heads torqued down. I have had everything possible go wrong with this engine build. I am on my second set of main bearings, re-polished the crank because I scratched it, second set of pushrod guides, third set of cam bearings, third oil pan (first did not fit, and would not work with the windage tray that also did not fit, second with internal windage tray was bent, and mounting holes did not line up), third timing set, had to shim the cam gear to align with the crank gear, I have had to rehone a cylinder for a scratch???, the original BBC rockers did not fit (aftermarket heads work with Ford rockers), Broke the cam retainer after taking some poor advice, had to return a set of lifters because they got me the wrong ones, and I have not even assembled the valve train. This has been going on since spring. I ordered the pushrods on Friday, odd size of course, and should have them soon. I still have to do a little custom work on the intake manifold, because the distributor required is a short style, and the base is a larger diameter than a standard, so I have to ream out the hole.
The only thing that was more frustrating in my life was being married to a woman who I believe was bipolar. I worked on it until she left...the engine won't go away on its own.

Well, I'm sure that could be arranged, but then your project would NEVER get finished.

I just picked up the '86 Cutlass Cruiser from the upholstery shop.
The drivers seat was beat down and had some splits in the back and bottom.

Omar r&r'd the covers, built up the sags, and replaced the vinyl with an exact match
, so now it looks like it did the day it left the dealers lot.
    Well worth $225.00, IMO.

I have it running great now, so next, I'll remove the wheels one by one and clean and paint them and polish the trim rings.
BTW, I'll be posting my '77 Estate Wagon for sale after the holidays for $2000 OBO.
