1976 Malibu Classic on E-Bay

This one is pretty nice. This is the exact model that my parents traded a 1969 Mustang in for back in 1976. Same color combo, ours had a 3 rd seat and luggage rack. I remember being 8 years old and my brother was 6, looking at the new Chevrolets with Mom and Dad. we totally fell in love with the way-back seat. They had looked a a 1976 Malibu Classic coupe first....but we bought this instead. This one on E-Bay has the radio antenna in a strange location. I wonder if the AM radio was dealer installed?

It was very common in that era to order a car with no radio, and have a cheap aftermarket radio installed, that is what the original owner of my 78 Catalina did. And outside of larger city's not much FM radio to choose from. FM really didn't start gaining popularity until around 1974, so not unusual to see AM only in 76 Model. What suprises me is that the car does not even have the Radio accommodation package that would have came with the windshield mounted antenna, speakers and wiring. My car is the same way. It is odd to see the antenna on the drivers front fender though really odd.

 

I did put in a bid early on, but I've been out bid now. Has much as I would like to have it, I really would have to sell off something else. I hope whomever wins it will give it a great home.
